Sliders, skid plates, bed bars, roam rooftop tent, bed stiffeners, and lift wheels and tires.
Just recently purchased Cali raised trail edition rock sliders. My wife is mad because I don’t have the slider steps. Does anyone have a pair of slider steps willing to trade.

So you’re wanting to trade something that costs over 800 for something that can be purchased for 200 or less? I have a set I’d gladly trade ya but the offer sounds too good to be true if I’m being honest.

Do you mean you ordered zero degree rock sliders without top plates?

    Welcome to Tacomaworld, Blaise!

He purchased the trail edition sliders which are 25 degrees, they fit close to the body and there’s not enough room for putting on any type of plates that could act as steps. It does seem to me that I saw some type of bolt on step somewhere, but I can’t remember where. Here’s a picture of what they look like mounted. They are great sliders for their intended use though, and my wife actually prefers them as she isn’t bashing her shins on them when getting into the truck. Women are hard for me to figure out. Welcome to TW, and good luck with finding a solution!

The OP is talking about CaliRaised sliders, which mount to the frame. The new Toyota ones look like real sliders but still mount to the body like steps.

On one hand, I agree. But on the other side with the frame corrosion TSBs, I think they're at least trying to appeal to the mall crawlers and limit their liability to some extent.

It is unfortunate for them because when you look at their prices for the Predatory steps, they could make bank on some real sliders.

You can fix it. Build steps by taking some 16 ga. or thicker sheet, hole saw out the dia. of the tube, bend the ends which will act as a support for the step surface, dimple it if you like, weld it to the sliders and have the sliders re-powdered or line-x coated and you're good. I built a similar set up for a set of nerfs for a truck. If they need to hang down, go with .090.

One other idea comes from a really lifted truck a guy I knew in HS had. He used a stirrup, from a saddle, that pulled out from under the seat and was anchored to the seat mount. Pretty cool. If I can find a picture of the nerfs, I'll come back and post it.

I have also seen self retracting (spring loaded, small pads) steps used for trailers. You may be able to adapt them for this purpose, it's all going to likely require welding and recoating though.

If you don't want to pay the cost of re powder coating or line-x, you could Herculine them. I've used the spray can version on some things and it holds up well. It's also easy to retouch if you drag the sliders over something. The texture is good for step surfaces too

Fix the problem, keep your sliders, and keep the wife happy.

Okay, I found a couple of pictures. They don't show all of what I want to convey, but you will get the general idea.

As stated in the original OP post, he purchased the Caliraised Trail Edition sliders, nothing to do with Toyota’s Trail Edition Tacoma.
