Bungie's Destiny

Next piece of the puzzle came in today. Now I'm just waiting on the manufacturers to create a 34" HDMI 2.1 monitor and I'll be done with my setup.

These 3D Audio headphones are unreal.

 

Note to self... DO NOT play PVP after taking two muscle relaxers. After a career in the FD and a bad car wreck in 99 my Dr. prescribed me Soma. It works wonders but holy fuck does it slow down everything. I might have well been shooting at the ceiling. I tanked last night until they finally wore off and started reading the map like I should. Before that I was just running around getting my ass handed to me.

 

I was lucky and scored another set of the PS5 Pulse 3D headsets at Target yesterday. They have been sold out as soon as they arrive. I happened to talk to the guy that works in electronics and he said they had two of them the other day but they sold out almost immediately. He checked his little hand held device and he saw that they had just got another in stock. So he went to the back of the store and grabbed it for me. I had originally intended to use it as a second headset in case my first one ran out of juice. But now I have it set up to where I can plug it in and still play. So I put it on ebay for sale. These things are almost as hard to get as the PS5 itself.

 

Dude. You have gone to the dark side. Scalping headsets? I might have bought it from you at regular price.

 

If I'd of known you wanted one I would have sold it to you. But you don't even have a PS5? By the time you get one they will be everywhere. I'm selling it for $135 to cover tax and shipping so it's not like I'm making any money off of it lol. I originally bought it because it was there and I would be able to switch them out if the power went low on one of them. Then I realized the back of my monitor has built in USB ports so I can just run the cable to the headset so I don't need a second one.

 

And if you don't believe that's the price I'm asking for, here is the listing. This will cover shipping, taxes that "I" paid, and ebay / paypal fees. So I'm not scalping anyone. Look at the rest of them. They are selling them from $180 - $200 sometimes.

 

Finished the raid again yesterday and I've got to say... I'm just not impressed with it. It does not interest me in the least for some reason. It's almost like Crota was in D1 as far as my ambivalence goes towards it. It's just not fun to me. The mechanics are almost non existent and really all you're doing is just clearing adds almost the entire time. The bosses really hold no challenge at all and it's just how fast you can put in dps on each one to bring them down without having to go to another damage phase. With the new weapons they have introduced this season, they far overpower any boss in the raid. I'm going to play it until I finally get the Trustee to drop and then after that? I'll probably never step foot back in there.

PvP is probably the best that it's ever been as far as balancing goes. You can go in with almost any weapon you like now and compete. That said... it took me 16 matches to go Flawless this weekend and 32 matches last week. So the Trials crowd has thinned out quite a bit even with the introduction of (Adept) weapons. Trials didn't go the way I think Bungie expected it to go even with the introduction of rewards just by playing. No one wants to go in there and just get their ass handed to them over and over just so you might pick up a piece of armor or maybe a weapon. There's no fun to be found doing that and I don't blame anyone for not wanting to go in there just to get pubstomped. I'm not sure what the fix is for Trials to get more people involved but whatever they are doing now is not working. I see (and play against) the same players each week multiple times.

About the only thing that I play now (besides going for pinnacles) is PvP. I have a love / hate relationship with the new PS5 Controller. The controller is great and the haptic feedback is unreal. But the thumbsticks are way too loose for me. I'm used to playing at a much higher tension so I'm missing some easy snipes because I'm overshooting my intended aim point because the tension is so much lower. Why, really, WHY will Sony not make an Elite controller like they do for the Xbox is beyond me. I've played with an Xbox Elite controller and they are the shit. Sony is going to lose so much money from third party controller manufacturers that it just doesn't make any sense what so ever.

All that said... This gun is fucking stupid strong. The range and stability on it for an auto rifle is the best I've ever seen and I'm not even playing Void subclass which would up the stability even more (not that it needs it). It's so fucking overpowered with the range (Adept) mod that it's almost unfair.



With the removal of Pinnacle weapons to chase, there really isn't a reason to go into Comp unless you want the unbroken title. A buddy that I play with wants to get the title so I took him in and played for quite a while to boost him up towards 5500. This match was the fifth win streak in a row. I've also got to figure how to adjust the chat / game volume with the headsets. There are so many changes to the PS5 that the UI is going to take some time to get used to. I wish his mic was shared but he just picked up a PS5 and is still learning also.

But goddamn... the game looks amazing running at 120fps with the FOV fully extended to 105. It is a completely different game. Now if they would just come out with an Elite controller everything would be great. Until then, my Trials runs are suffering a little bit.

I'll play in regular 6v6 just to kill some time. But I spend most of my time in Comp where your skill matters rather than your connection. I still have mixed emotions about CBMM in 6's. Especially on maps that really aren't designed to be played with 12 players. Anomaly is probably my least favorite map for 6's. I actually got hate mail from one of "my" teammates. I didn't have the best game but still killed 14 and had a 1.5kd. He told me I sucked and then I looked at his preformance in that game and he had 4 kills and had a .6kd? That was kind of bizarre

So I'll just generally stick with Comp where skill matters against your opponent's.

I'll take a Diamond ranking any day in Comp and Trials. Top 0.4% and top 1.8% in Comp is nothing to sneeze at.

 

The PS5 is unbelievable. Destiny 2 is a completely different game. Running at 120fps with a wide open FOV? Now I see why people switched to PC (even though PC had it's problems with cheating).

This is from a private match last night and I've played with him for 7 years now. He plays the hardest class to play against just because of the way he plays that class. He's the only one that I know that plays the way he does and he is the only one that I actually have to really pay attention when I'm playing. I don't worry about playing others in the game. But we are both 5500 players and you give him the slightest opening and he will abuse you.

Anyway, it's good practice and helps when Trials comes around each weekend.

Glad I remembered to turn on the mic settings. Cauldron is the smallest map in the game but watch how many snipes we land on such a small map.

I wish I never gave up on D2. I mean the launch was terrible, then I had a kid and stopped playing. I'm so far behind and do not have the time or money to grind / pay for DLCs. I loved D1 and am considering going back and playing if anyone ever wants to feel nostalgic.

 

With the Beyond Light launch, now is a good time to get back in. A lot of the older content/dlcs have been shelved in the "Destiny Content Vault". You'd start at 1050 light level, and have to work your way up to 1200-1250 to be relevant for endgame content, but IMO, its not *that* bad of a grind.

 

As far as I know all of D2 is free with the exception of Beyond Light. I think you can pick up Beyond Light for $19 IIRC. The rest are free if you have PS Plus (which you have to have to be able to play online). I agree the first year of D2 was horrible. The second year I quit for almost a year because it sucked so bad. Then Shadowkeep came out and it got much better. Beyond Light is okay... If you have a PS5 it is unbelievable. But PvP has never been more balanced than it is right now. Almost every weapon is a viable weapon to bring in there.

 

I also have the OG Xbox 1, so no way I’m getting the new DLC on that Dinosaur. I hear ya, but sadly not gonna happen for a while.

 

I know the base game is free. Are all the Y1 and Y2 DLC also free? I launched up the game the other day and most of the missions were behind a pay wall, so I went back to playing SnowRunner.

 

As far as I know everything up to Beyond Light is free if you're a PS Plus subscriber. Beyond Light is the only thing you should have to pay for. It's worth the price if you're still interested. They have finally made the game better. But... I mostly play PvP so that's where I really notice the difference.

 

Thanks! I am on XB. Most exclusive deals have moved to PS until that contract expires and it'll move back to XB. I'm going to wait until I have a new console to get the new expansion.

 

XB actually has a much better deal than PS with their Game Pass. I wish PS would follow XB's lead on that.

 

Oh I don't have game pass. I'm a casual gamer. Maybe play 1-2 hours a week max. Used to play 6 hours a day in college on D1.

Now I've moved onto warzone, but that is just too competitive now. Thanks for the info!

 

I remember doing 1v1s all the time in D1, not as much in D2, but I still very much enjoy them. I'm currently stuck in my loop of coming back to the game recently and wanting to be better at PvP. Shortly before Beyond Light dropped was probably when I was at my best in a long while. These are a few clips from Trials, not my PoV, but you get the idea of my sort of skill level.
