80/20 setups are looking good right now. Gutted the current setup. The drawer and slide def added a bunch of weight. I would assume the 80/20 setups should be much lighter. Need to find some light weight drawer slides. These steel ones I picked for heavy weight and they are beastly.

and if anyone was curious where to run power. I have a 6awg line running from a 80 amp breaker in the bed. From here can runabout disconnect to the X1 for removal. I like the idea of adding one of the wire deals that seal. Right now silicone is doing the work sealing it. It’s a mess as I unmounted it.

 

I have had a few people reach out about meeting up to see my SP in person. I am happy to meet up, but I pretty much do something every weekend more fun than giving truck tours. So... I just saw that some Sacramento guys are planning a meet up at Prairie City in February.... I'll paste the thread link below. If this seems like it works for any of you wanting to come out and see it I will plan to be there. If not, I'll go find a hot spring.

How will you secure to bed ?

 

Probably put a wood floor as the base. That's what most setups have in place.

@gnardoggie mock-up is looking good. Where did you order the 80/20? Are you going to mount the heater low or higher up? I am really considering that same one, or at least factor it into a possible future change.

 

Right now I'm planning on making brackets and securing it to the bed rail. it will fit pretty snug as I'm going to add one more cabinet for V1.5, which will be in the front/center to make U shaped benches, I'll also have a floor panel that can be configured to make the downstairs a bed platform too. it should help keep everything rather snug.

I considered a full floor platform, but it doesn't seem worth the weight and I'm not afraid to drill/bolt through the truck bed if needed.

I got all of my supplies through TNUTZ. I just had to order a bunch more of the corner brackets to add some more structure to the top squares and a few more bits for other tweaks. I'm at about $500 now in extrusion materials and will be in another 150-200 or so for the aluminum composite for the cladding.

The heater will be low, sort of as pictured, and most likely stick out a bit from the bedside. My primary goal for heater placement is actually to get it to have the chimney flush mount to the outside. I considered running more chimney outside (out and up), which would allow me to remove it and plug the hole easier in the summer, but if I can get it mounted flush and have it in there full time I think that's a compromise I'm willing to make. Maybe someday SP will make a half door panel for us if you want a heater.

If you're interested in the idea, I'm going to have my buddy do a custom fab mount and maybe could run a batch or something at some point.

 

Def curious to see what you come up with. I like the idea of being removable when not in use but if its was flush enough one less thing to lose or misplace.

For the floor, I hear you. My decision is to think about what is strong but lighter. I was thinking that you could mount the floor to the existing bed bolts in each corner but the rail idea works. That is how I had my last setup anchored. It was solid. I def want to setup some storage and make it wrap around for some seating. I really like that idea.

Are you mounting your fridge in the back? I have mind in the cab now but really wanted to put it in the back and get the cab space back and be able to access it from the side in the bed.

 

For sure about the chimney - I'm sure there will be a way to disconnect just the chimney pipe too which could allow for use of the side hatch in the summer. Haven't gotten that far down the road just yet.

I've been thinking a lot about my fridge placement. Right now it is behind the passenger seat. If I do move it, it will be prob just mounted on top of one of the benches with tie downs so that I can relocate it as I want to.

 

Makes sense. I thought about that but mainly want that access when I open a side door.

There is a guy in the Vagabond threads who set the same heater up and the chimney is removable and caps off when not in use. Pretty neat.

 

yea - I saw his setup. I don't like that you have to add/remove every time you want to use it or move the rig though. Both of my current ideas for it would allow for you to at least drive with everything setup, just the one way would have the chimney stick out more which could hit or snag stuff possibly. His also requires a custom chimney elbow.

 

yah I was chatting with him a bit on it. Aside from having to set it up if needed, I was focused on how it was when not in use. Last thing I need is that thing to get ripped off on a trail.

 

Agreed. I'm curious why he didn't at least cut it down. You can take up to 8" off of the factory length without impacting performance.

 

Could you guys send a link to that guy's setup? I'm trying to figure out a heating system, too, and I'm having a hard time visualizing all of this. Thanks
