Indeed, glass door, linked in, facebook job listings

Most companies that I see and look up for a phone number and give a call as soon as I ask if they're hiring give a hard "no"

I'm going to change my search more toward the shipyards an hour or two away... my searches so far are only looking relatively close to me

well, keep at it. Times are tough everywhere right now for a lot of people, especially smaller businesses/companies. Eventually you'll connect with someone who is hiring

^^ also, whoever was in charge of doing the lighting for this Papa John's interview was either completely clueless or was intentionally trying to make him look 10x worse than he already did lol.

Oh yeah he looks geeked out and probably backed up on several weeks' worth of hangovers, but that lighting is god awful and would make anyone look bad

My highschool teacher that was teaching college classes actually set up a tour there for the best in his classes

Going to see if I can get him to put in the good word since from what I could tell him and the company are in good standing

Was thinking to myself 'I'd love to get my roof rack by now'

This morning, I got an email stating -

    "Dear Customer,

We regret to inform you that because of delays with several of our suppliers, we are unable to complete your order within our originally estimated lead time of 6-8 weeks. Several of our suppliers are operating at decreased capacity and combined with an unprecedented holiday rush, our supply chain has been left with shortages. Our team is doing everything possible to adjust for these changes with suppliers and we will continue getting orders out of our doors as quickly as possible.

We hope that you are understanding during this difficult time. We hope to have your products completed no later than 2 weeks after your original estimated ship date, but we cannot guarantee that at this time.

Thank you for being a Sherpa Equipment Co. customer and we sincerely apologize for this delay along with any inconvenience it may cause.

    Thank you for your understanding."

I didn't ask, email, or call...just got the email because they're slightly delayed.

This is way better than me having to call someone, 2-3 months past schedule, to find out where my parts are.

oh ok. I thought you were farther north. Hmm.

I looked at the Kiewit yard in Ingleside but I didn't see anything. Thats the only shipyard I'm familiar with, but there are probably others.

Job hunting sucks, but you'll find something eventually.

My college under normal circumstances hosts a job fair where employers get to take their pick

But a couple hundred people in a room isn't covid friendly so that's on hold

Kewit was there last time I swung by one of them

Seems like a pretty easy thing to set up virtually, even if only to get a bunch of employers to agree to take on resumes from students. I'm surprised they didn't attempt to do that at least.
