What do you have and what do you like, dislike and why? I'm not spending $1500 on the EZEE Awn, though I'm sure they're very stout and well made.

Looking for first hand experience, not theories. Thanks in advance.

    I'm using a Rhino-Rack Dome 1300 Awning (https://www.rhinorack.com/en-us/products/sport-leisure/shade/awnings/dome-1300-awning_32125 - available for about $200 from third party resellers).

I really like the dome aspect especially given that I don't have it mounted very high up. It is mounted on Mobtown bed bars, so only about six or eight inches above the top of the bed walls. The dome gives one a lot of headroom underneath it without having to crouch down. I've had it up in rain/windstorms with sustained winds of 15 gusting to 25 mph overnight with no issues.

Good design, solid build, reasonably priced.

Thanks for the info. I really like Rhino Rack products. Good value. High quality stuff. However, I am specifically looking for a 270 degree awning. I currently have a single side CVT.

EDIT: Oh I see now they also make a reasonably priced 270! That might be the ticket.

    I had this one:

    https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B071JY561J/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

It is of medium quality and worked as designed. I got rid of it because its heavy and looong. You will need a bed and roof rack to use a 270 awning. I have a SB but I think a LB truck would also need a roof rack or similar mount as its over 8' long

I found that most of camping I do I did not use the awning at all. I went with a standard 6.5' awning and I use if more than I did the 270 because its easier to setup and put away. Its also easier to put on/take off the truck for trips where I know I wont use it.

    Edit
I was unable to find a pic with the 270 mounted. Here is a pic with 6.5 standard awning mounted. Now add about 2 feet to that.

I have been mulling over the idea of one of these for some time, and suggest you to look and research this product offered by "Overland Vehicle Systems". The price point, overall construction and ease of application appears to be good, and sound I.M.H.O... I am personally leaning towards this product, but won't pull the trigger just yet, as my plans constantly change as to what I am configuring and planning with this Tacoma project that I am working on. As of now, it would be a good addition to our tent camping set-up and routine, as it would allow for a decent covered area to prepare meals and chill out while at a campsite for more than a few days.

woah woah woah, you mean to tell me you are actually going to formulate a strategy and plan your build (sarcasm)? I didn't think that was allowed for Tacomas. Seriously, we all just come out guns a blazing, not even looking beyond what the 10 year old boy in us wants.

I had a 23 Zero RTT that I got used.. Very high quality stuff, but I'm not spending $1000 on their 270 awning. If a used one comes up, I'd be all over it.

I think the weak points of all available awnings are the spindly upright pole supports. I'd like to see an awning that was totally supported by poles cantilevered from the body of the truck itself. (For example, telescoping poles that would extend outward from a roof rack.) Then you could walk under the awning without constantly bumping into the vertical supports.

It took 4 months from when I ordered it, but I got an ovs nomadic 270. I think it was $750 from campsaver with a coupon code.
Haven’t taken it out yet but it seems put together well.

I have yet to test it, but it has 3 built in support poles, and 3 additional poles that come with cordage and stakes. I imagine if it got windy you would want to stake it out as much as possible.

I've got a used 23Zero tent, and love that, but can't find many people with experience with the Awnings, also, does anyone have any input for length of the awning on a 5ft bed? The 270s all seem to be 90 inches long which would leave alot hanging over cab.

What’s the distance from your drivers side tail light to the end of awning? I’m looking for how much cover you have behind the truck. Thanks
