I guess no matter how many of these posts I read, I cannot get myself to worry about my mat being stolen. I do have a tonneau and electric lock on my tailgate, so if it does get stolen I would replace it and probably do what the OP has done. Mine was put in at port so I haven’t even tried to remove it to ascertain the level of difficulty. I suppose avoiding the spontaneous theft is key and OP has done that. From what little experience I have had with the mat, cargo doesn’t slide easily and sometimes you want it to. Therefore I don’t want mine to be bolted down. Only time will tell if that is exposing me to theft.

My favorite thread so far in the short time I've been here. Thank to all for the laughs.

I tried a cross thread reference joke in the rack theft proofing thread and it bombed. Oh well I'm a newb, I'll get better at it

I gotta say, the Amazon poop ads I’m getting in this thread seem to be growing.

If a bed mat smells when new, and if you put the poop on it, does it smell different then if it was a used mat?

Asking for someone I don’t know.....

i don't think bed mats have a high retail value on the black market...

If you buy rubber poop then it willl make it smell more like new rubber.

I am talking about taking the mat in the house each night. The thing stinks like rubber and I don't want it in my house. But I did the bolt mod so it is safe for now. I don't know very much about Tacomas yet, so I likely would not make a good moderator.

You could use adhesive velcro strips to attach the mat to the bed floor

It gets dirty and wet and velcro might not be the best for the bed mat. I did the bolt mod and you can still roll it up to clean under it, but it will not blow out or go out of the bed.

If you're going to steal the bed mat, would velcro really be a deterrent?

No. That is why the bolt mod with a nylock nut under the bed works.

haha, I wasn't being serious. What you've done (poke hole through mat and through bolt to a drainage hole) is more than sufficient.

you could put something heavy like a 5 gallon bucket of concrete on each of the four corners to hold it down

    Bolt Mod.

@tractorfarmer123 has his own mod now. ALL HAIL THE BOLT MOD.

This thread needs a sticky or an archive or a HOF nomination of some sort.
