    It's pretty cheap.

Hell, the 5.0 I'm almost done paying is $574/month at 0% for 60 months.

Only $400 more and you snatch up a car that's almost $100k

I was in the middle of cleaning the mud off my truck when I get a phone call from my brother (not the one with the Tundra) that his Camry failed state inspection. For a "failed" power steering return line. The rubber hose on the right side of the photo connects to another constant tension clamp on the power steering reservoir. It wasn't even leaking... maybe some seepage. So I clean off the area and move the clamp further back. Annnddd the place fails him again. They wanted him to replace that hose. No one seems to sell that single formed hose so the quote was $90+ for that shop to do it o_O

So I cut some power steering hose I had lying around, but then the constant tension clamps didn't fit. So I went through my Toyota parts bin and found some smaller clamps. I don't like adjustable hose clamps for this application. Hopefully he passes inspection tomorrow and saves over $100. The confusing part to me is that it was the same shop that passed my flatbed. Rolled in on split dry rotted Maxxis Buckshots with zip ties and prayers holding the radiator support on. The engine bay was full of power steering fluid because I had an actual failed return line. They checked my signals, drove it around the block, looked at me funny, and sent me inside to pay.

Huh.... I could still buy a fair amount of blow and a bottom barrel bish for 574 and have no insurance or gas payment to boot :burp:

I guess I'm just biased because never in a million years would I buy a brand new vehicle off the lot. Or even a lightly used one. Especially when it's worth so much

    Yeah, same.

That was the only car purchased new.

I've paid off now 3 or 4 cars, and it'll be my 5th now?

No more financing vehicles for me; I've been happy these past few years with older vehicles which I've always possessed anyway.

I find it's good to do both. Its nice to have something new just for the piece of mind. That being said older cars and trucks are way more fun to work on and play with.

I'd always have a newer car I'd commute with, and an older one or two to mess with. Then the newer cars got fucked with :anonymous:

It's about your relationship with the guy

My inspection guy doesn't even check my cars, even let my lexus go with a broken corner light just pushed in place, burnt turn signal bulb, and peeling wipers

The guy never even stepped in the car and the power steering leaked all it's fluid out so it has manual steering

But will do a 10,000 pt inspection to my dad

What's a car safety inspection? CA don't give two craps if your junk is about to fall apart on the highway and take out a bus full of school children, as long as it passes smog

Basically shops give money to the state and the state gives them the ability to make 7 dollars per car every year and however much they make getting it up to state regulations

Your mom's transfer case is about the same as mine, usually when the viscous center breaks (and holy shit if she was running different tires it probably has overheated a few times) they fail open. You should unplug the range sensors and see if it might have false locked the center diff

I'm pretty sure I ran into those during my search to see what all is available.

Don't know why I wrote them off?

Was looking at Metal Tech again.

Only car safety inspections I know of are if a dealership is selling a used car and wants to ensure there are no issues for liability reasons.

I don't know either, is metal tech using rubber bushings, if not might as well save you're hard earned bucks and get the SPCs, you get one spherical joint and one poly bushing end.

They're like $400...a good $100 more than any other lower link I've seen offered for 3rd Gens. Reason why I chose Resz, and consider Metal Tech now, is due to the offset they offer.

    pure-4runner-3rd-gen-lower-links.jpg

Poly one end, johnny joint on the other.

I had preferred poly on both.
