Installed the upgrade but I’m dumb and got the harness that doesn’t work with DRL so I’m running without DRL’s now.

    I believe that's what's called a "worthwhile tradeoff."

Just did the install and I did the same thing dude. Not worried tho cause the lenses for the DRLs are already burnt like they keep burning them and I can’t find a good replacement that won’t burn them and won’t hyper blink. Sooo I guess no drls for now

So about this post I never went back and changed it but my DRL‘s are working I was just dumb and forgot that they don’t work until I put it in drive.... I have the amber DRL’s‘s that are right next to the grill

The fix is to get the updated TSB headlight assemblies linked in the original post. Fixes the burning issue in the early headlights, you can also then get the TRD smoked chrome version of the lights for a more aggressive look if you don't have it already.

I have a question about your post here being there is a TSB should I be getting the headlight assemblies for free? I only ask because when I bought this truck originally in 2016 the dealership did not want to replace them in as part of the sale and wanted me to pay 850 bucks for it and I told him to kick rocks

In 2016 they should have replaced them for free I believe. But as mentioned the free replacement period has since ended.

Toyota redesigned the DRL to not have the melting issue. The specific ones linked in the thread are also the TRD version that are a darker smoked chrome.

When I go to the link of that headlight assembly for the 2005-2011 all its showing is the lenses and connectors. You sure its for the whole headlight?

Weird the image on the site changed, but yes it is the whole headlight, look at the part number to match what is below to confirm.

Well I thought I would do a real short post with a couple of pictures.

I drive a lot at night for a second job so lighting is important to me and i can tell you that this upgrade is amazing.
I bought the harness from headlight services. I bought 4 Osram bulbs so I had a couple of extras.
I installed the harness and followed the instructions to a T and it came out great. Super easy! Cant wait to see what they look like on a night snow run or just a night out in the pitch black.

I also installed some DD SS3 pros and they light it up even more and it’s CRAZY!!!!

First two pictures are low beams. Third pic is high beams. Forth pic is with my fogs on.

Thank you @crashnburn80 for all this info you provide us! And thank you for answering my questions via message

^ That looks great man. I should get my harness tomorrow and I think I’ll install it even though I don’t have the bulbs yet.

Those fogs look fantastic too. I thought the BD plug and plays were great but I’m going to have to check out these DD’s.

1C526105-57C3-475A-A433-E4A06774F52E.jpg @crashnburn80 any idea what would cause this? Lost both low beams at once. Not the relay, I replaced the bulbs and the lows work.

@crashnburn80 will correct me as necessary and he can certainly speak to it in more technical detail, but I don't see anything that unusual here. It's common for these bulbs (when installed simultaneously) to fail simultaneously (or close to it). I've also seen several bulb failures that look similar to yours.
