Your reading needs to improve. The OP has a vehicle with LED DRL' s and wants to use SR/SR5 headlights. Disabling in this case is not using the wire in the 4 place connector.

Another option besides adapting the TRD to SR headlights would be cracking the headlight open and replacing the side reflector. Probably run you $60ish by the time you buy the reflector and new sealant. And 3-5 hours of work? Just throwing it out as a possibility. You would retain the full functionality of you existing headlights because you would retain the original headlight.

You can just disable the DRL in the head unit.
I'm actually planning on doing a retrofit over the next couple of weeks on my SR5 headlights. I plan on adding a separate LED circuit per @caribe makaira instructions to power Diode Dynamics halos as DRLs with their red wire when the ignition is on. I'll tap the amber wires of the halos to the turn signal/DRL wire so they work as the turn signals. I'll disable the DRLs in the head unit, so the turn signal/DRL wire will only receive power when the turn signals are activated.

I can read fine, perhaps you need to reread the OP:

So if the OP wants the amber DRL then the turn signal and DRL need to be combined as the SR/SR5 amber DRL uses the same bulb and the same filament as the turn signal. So if the DRL is on the signal will not flash because it would still be receiving constant power from the DRL. Now that’s not an issue if the DRL is completely disabled but he stated he wanted amber DRL.

No need to duplicate EXACTLY what the SR/SR5 headlights need. His vehicle has the input from the LED DRL already. He can substitute the parking input for the DRL, and he gets TURN & DRL.

I'm looking at doing this same thing - running turn signals as both DRL and indicators on my TRD with the factory DRL. I think this approach generally makes sense to me. Would there be a way to factor in the "L" DRL dimming into this equation? So that the turn signal "DRL" dims when the headlights are turned on but are normal intensity when off.

    Thanks in advance!

The dimming part is not the easy part of the request.
Combining the input (DRL & Parking) into an available module does not dim the turn signal, just switches source and intermittent feature.

If the parking/dimmer wire is activated then is the normal drl wire still powered? I saw another post mentioning they tapped both the main power and dimmer on the DRL, diodes inline, and then connected together into the turn signal. Would that work? Sorry, I know nothing about electrical so trying to learn

That would just switch power input, not intensity.(dim)
There is a way but it would be a little complicated. Adding a module to the Turn bulb to act as TURN and DRL. That would be using a dual filament bulb. Then when the DRL are Dim, the low filament could be ON for a dimmer look, while still having the HIGH filament as TURN still.

The rear lamp assembly's Stop and Parking bulb holder fits into the headlight turn signal bulb socket without modification. The connector to it would need to be incorporated into the modification of the circuit.

Gotcha, well I was planning on switching to a 7443 LED bulb so that should be dual filament.

I think it should be a requirement that anyone doing this also chrome the snot out of the headlight. Shall we call that blackout delete?

If a module gets installed between the dual filaments then you'd have DRL Bright on the HIGH filament and intermittent when TURN is selected. Then when LOW beams are ON, the module could switch to the dim (tail) filament and back to Bright when TURN is selected.

I love it! I’m not catching up tonight just skimming, but I think doing the dimmed light is possible. Been playing with the concept on raptor lights, should work the same on a 7443, but it might have to be LED. Using These: https://www.diodedynamics.com/2a-led-pwm-dimmer-with-bypass.html

Sorry if I’m way off base, just skimmed the post. Will read tomorrow to see what is actually being said
