2nd gems I believe are waiting on a bunch of redesign so naturally there will be a ton of 3rd gens. That’s the money maker.

Yeah makes sense. I know they are designing the 1st gen or modifying the base to fit both 1st and 2nd gen. We were in the same boat. they told me February time frame Cindy and Spencer both. By April would be cool at this point. I saw recently on some IG posts they are telling people 6 months now.

Colors chose (black and gray) and 50% down. 6-8 weeks estimated completion with a week prior notice to schedule the install. My secure build payment was 29SEP20.

Gettimg stoked to use this - just in time for spring turkey season.

I'd appreciate the advice of anyone who has time to respond to me:

    Do I need bed stiffeners?

Depending which generation, i do feel they help some. I do have some
Slight. deflection the bottom of my tail gate too the top it gets noticeable larger in the gap. So i installed some to help and just peace of mind. Some will say its a waste of money being 300+ i air on the side of over doing it!

I have a 3rd gen. I don't want to mess anything up and I would certainly fall into the "err on the side of caution" kind of person.

You just dropped 7k on a shell, what's $200 for a few more tie down points?

For sure, this is definitely not about price. I just don't really "get it" and was wondering if you all with much more experience thank I think it's something I need to do. But you're absolutely right, for a few hundred bucks, why not? I was just wondering if it's dumb to do it for some reason I don't know.

I run them and would say go for it. Any bracing or gussets in any fashion will help the truck

Sign up for emails from Rago Fabrication. They have them on sale for $80 time to time. I got a set of blemished ones from them for $70 and I couldn’t find an imperfection on them... not that it matters as they are bound to get dinged in the bed of a truck.
