first gen owner tried and true. But got a chance to buy a 2015 at a real good price is there anything that I need to really check. Not used to having something this new. Heard horror stories about the new ones. This truck only has 65k on it.

I'm sure there are exceptions, but 2015 was a good year. I've had 3 second Gens, and all were good.
Really depends on how it was treated.

Are you in a position to where you can keep the 1st gen and buy the 2015?

You really should try to keep the first gen unless it is a wreck. You will most likely regret it later. We see a lot of that here on the forums. I have 260K on mine and plan on keeping it as long as I can drive a 5 speed.

I would buy it in a heartbeat if were you, especially if you feel it’s a good price. But first, being that it’s out of warranty you should try to find out as much as possible about the service history and then get a good look underneath. Personally, I would take it to my trusted mechanic for an inspection. My guy does that for free if you’re a loyal customer, it’s great to have a relationship like that.

That would be the first thing I would do on any Toyota truck frame, 4Runners included. if I were buying a brand new truck I would be coating it with fluid film right away. Unless I lived in the desert or California. (Could not pay me to live in California)

If you don't have to, buy the other one and drive it for a little while. If you like it, then sell the other one. You may find yourself wanting to keep them both.

Sounds like you found a good un. Bought mine new and only have 61k on it. In Georgia we don't have that rust problem. I like having the last year of the 2G's. Keep them both. I had a 94 Yota and sold it and wish I still had it.
