Some folks get lucky, don't know what to tell you there. I'm no fan of leather in a vehicle that sees hard use anyway, but to make it last through UV and age I've always conditioned. My poor Land Cruiser seats (may they rest in piece) are a testament to how cheap and hard Toyota leather is and what can happen if you don't replenish the oils and UV resistant coating. Wish I could slap the original owner. Compared to the stuff you find in american or european cars, hell even the Lexus leather is much nicer.

Your new seats look far less stressed and dry than the old ones, nice find!

Sounds like you have had a few bad experiences lol. Maybe it's the humidity here but never had any issues with any of my leather seats. I would defiantly go with the 4Runner seats again.

If they adjust then they'll work. I've got seat covers that I'll put over the head rests anyways so color doesn't matter

I got super lucky. They were freshly recovered last year. And I only paid $100 for them.

Yeah, it's all just getting old now, my rear leather in the LC that doesn't get sunlight through the windshield is in great condition. If it were the same quality as the leather found in a modern Chevy it would probably have lived longer without care, I got to it too late and my late in life conditioning prolonged the ripping for maybe 2 years, but they had been dry for too long and finally ripped late last year. Looking for stock cloth replacements now, Toyota knows their leather is thin so they put harder seat cushions in to avoid it stretching too much. The cloth seats though, those are like couches, so I'm looking forward to an upgrade in comfort.

Lol, I took the cloth out because I was having issue with hip and back problems, to me the cloth are the worse seats I have ever had. I guess we are just polar opposites, lol

I don't have issues with the leather seats causing me back and hip discomfort in the LC, they're captains chairs so my legs have tons of room. They're just way harder cushions, which is fine if you're into that kind of thing. I don't have any natural cushioning if you will haha, I'm 6' 3" 165lbs, if the seat doesn't have cushioning my ass feels it haha

The harder cushions is what makes them comfortable, the soft ones always degrade to where you start feeling the seat springs and frame. I guess heavier people need the firmer seats and skinnier people need the soft ones.

How did you get the seatbelts to latch? Did you use tacoma bucket seat female ends and attach them to the 4Runner seats? I'm attempting the "swap" now from my bench seat in a standard cab.

Do certain year tacoma ones just bolt right in to the 4runner seat? My '96 bench seat one seems absolutely incompatible.

You need Tacoma females from a split bench or buckets. the bench seat females mount to the cab not the seat and will not work.

Awesome, just wanted to verify that the tacoma female ends would bolt up to the 4runner seat. Still going to have to figure out what to do about the seatbelt light, will probably attach a resistor or remove the bulb in the cluster. Thanks!

Won’t the light work properly if you’re using the Tacoma ones? There is wiring under the seat to plug into it

Honestly I'm not sure, I've never seen the other tacoma buckles to see if they have a compatible plug in them or not. Hopefully they bolt/plug up, I'll just have to call the local scrap yards and see if they have any on hand.

    Tour991, ah thats perfect, thanks!

This was last week to be honest.. but I was finally able to rustle up and install an elusive oem rear carpeted trim for my 02 regular cab 5 lug!!

After I added my bucket seats I had all kinds of noises making their way into my eardrums as I drove down the road.. look at all that bare metal.
    20210102_150427.jpg

I added some oem clips PN 9046706150C0 to complete the install, they are black as sadly they are not made in "charcoal" any longer.
    20210102_160600 (1).jpg

The new found quietness put a smile on my face as I took her down the road for a test! It certainly looks nicer and more "finished", and even feels a bit warmer when I hop into the truck in the morning now!
