Yeah that sucks. I've had that kinda thing happen too before. Sometimes its the most random things that break our rods. Last rod I snapped was a Shimano rod earlier this year. Maybe the 3rd time using it and went to get a jig out of a snagged bush and it just went "SNAP." Still boggles my mind how that happened.

Luckily some of these rod companies have great customer service. I’ve had issues here n’ there with some of my rods over the years and a few of the brands I used didn’t hesitate to send me a new rod or something similar. Nothing worse than breaking/losing a rod and/or reel.

not today, still getting over my cold. The breeze made me stay home. Fishing has been so rough i may wait it out until temps swing a little.

Boats charged and ready on the side yard itching to go tough. Wish stripers were running a bit more, seemed they didnt get much action this fall.

Yeah forgot about your cold. Rest up and let’s go! Although I have a sneaky suspicion that here in the next couple of weeks we are about to get bombed with nonstop cold and rain. I feel like that’s been the norm the last couple of years. May be early spring before decent fishing is upon us if that happens.

We need the water so badly I wouldn’t mind it. I’m already tired of the cold and wet and our wet season just started.

I lost my favorite drop-shot rod/reel into the lake today. Katchase and another guy graciously tried to help me snag it from the depths, but no luck.
Flat bubbly leftover wine is helping.

I’m over it. Moving on with fishing 2021!

Skunked at the Delta today. Tried just about everything I could think of.... nada. I’ll be back out there when it warms up more.

Looking to sell my kayak if anyone is interested.

Super lightweight, stable, durable, and bare-bones. Used it on lakes, rivers, ponds, everything except the ocean pretty much.

DM if you’re interested in it.

Damn it’s been quiet in here.... :tumbleweed:

Took my brothers ice fishing yesterday...... beautiful day honestly. Sun was out, blue skies, and sweater weather until about 3 pm. I brought my new insulated ice shack and heater (as I knew it was going to get cold as soon as the sun dropped) so that helped major in the evening and into the night.

Caught 1 rainbow trout, but marked a ton of fish... couldn’t get them to bite though. After the sun went down, we marked a couple big bites off the bottom which I would bet were lake trout on the prowl. Definitely a bucket list item to get a mackinaw through the ice!

    ‘Twas a fun day regardless!

my personal fishing matches this thread. quiet!!

skunk-pro at this point. but i am still testing out new spots to learn the launch, the area, etc. once it starts to warm up and the days get longer, i should hopefully have enough intel to make a smart choice to fish.

i did look at the 2021 kayak tournament schedule this year, and was surprised to hear of lakes for the first time. daunting the choices we have.

That was one of the main reasons I wanted to upgrade my kayak. Want to start doing tournaments and all of that good stuff. Going to sell my Lexus and use the Tundra as my daily for awhile until I find something else I want. Tundra sure ain't pretty, but it will do what I need it to do for the time being.

I toyed with the idea of actually going out of my way to sell it for the last couple of months but now I've finally decided to make it happen. Doesn't really make sense for me to have two vehicles right now anyways. Might as well make some money on the one, and fix up the Tundra to be a good fishing/camping truck to use for awhile. Maybe after that upgrade into something else cool like a newer Tundra.

i like the idea. maybe find a cheap used camper shell. i have slept under mine so many times. not the greatest sleep, but serviceable.

i plan/hope on fishing some of the further lakes. the mother lode lakes. i think sleeping overnight out there is the only way to make that drive palatable. i want to keep it simple. air pad in the back..campstove because - COFFEE! (and bacon)

Yep I agree. Id have to stay overnight down there somewhere to make it worth it. Whether its an AirBnB, sleeping in the parking lot, or finding a camp site in the National Forest nearby, it would be a much better trip if it was a two-day minimum adventure.
