They're a sticker replacement for the stock chrome badges. Remove chrome badge, polish off the gunk from the mounting tape, slap on sticker.

I debagged my last Tacoma after much contemplation. Sometimes I liked it, sometimes I thought it looked too bare. This time I plan to go with black overlays.

I vote for de-badging it completely. Such a clean look and no extra cost of new badges or overlays.

Looks like you'd have to do some serious stenciling and cutting to make them fit nicely....

I'm not really sure about all the hatred for chrome is about these days. (Just 'me' I guess..)
    I've got a mix on mine ..
Especially rims. Gawd, you'd think that any kind of 'shiny' parts on rims is an instant commendation to Truck Hell.
    I don't get it.

I generally vote for de-badging, but if you're keeping them then don't forget plasti-dip (DipYourCar). I know some people laugh at it, but I think it's great for badges & sometimes wheels.

It's not hatred, just doesnt seem to fit ... my wheels are black, interior black, most of the trim is black... then you have shiny badges and bumper caps chrome... just looks out of place.
Just a preference. A break away from the stock off the lot look.... create some looks from the other owners in my area.

Ive seen two methods with PlastiDip....
    1. mask off and spray right on the emblem on truck.
    2. remove emblems, spray, replace with 3m tape.

Anyone have experience with process 1? Seems kinda sloppy... just my ASSessment.

It does seem that way ... for mine, I’ll probably use some adhesive backed magnetic material and use them as refrigerator magnets. BTW, The overlays are so sticky that they pulled the whole emblem off when I tried removing them.

    Yeah, this!
If you just search on YouTube they have some really great videos
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pLmIpT6Gq34
This is the major advantage of it...you can literally just peel off the extra (that's on the paint) & it'll break right where the paint meets the badge!

The two worst parts are waiting for each coat to flash and picking out the center of the letter A

I see the HydroDip kit for $50 ish ...and a can of PlastiDip from Lowes for $5.... Is Hydro that much better?
It looks like peeps in the videos for Plasti are just going straight onto the chrome... no sanding, no primer, no etching....

Oh, also... would the cold Idaho temps have an affect on the adhesion? Its been hovering around 35 here.
