I felt that the board director in the middle escalated it. Glad the gunman was a horrible shooter.

It doesn't look like he had fired a sidearm before. Each shot he took scared him and the gun nearly jumped out of his hand each time. It's good he missed. It's a shame he was shot sooner.

It goes without saying that the gunman was a sick individual and ended up taking his own life.
I have to also question that director and his demeanor, if he is that much of a dick with a gun pointed at him imagine how difficult it would be to work with him on an ordinary board meeting.

    Agreed.

Obviously, the man was sick (and most likely intoxicated) but anyone who has any ounce of common sense knows you do not provoke an armed assailant.

Situations like this make me wish carry n conceal would be available in every state/county for all law abiding citizens.

I'm surprised it took so long for the others to hit the deck. Looks like his first shot hit the countertop. Really surprised noone was hurt, sure?

How do you know this man wasn't law-abiding before this act?

Not to derail the subject, but that's a pretty closed-minded view of the situation, and a bad place for a soapbox. What, you want all the school board members to be packing? (school board meetings to routinely take place on school grounds -- often with children, and lots of innocent people in attendance, you know)

I think a school board meeting is a pretty bad place for a firefight to break out, not to mention a bad way for important issues to be discussed.

Closed mindedness goes both ways Sir. I would just like the opportunity to defend myself and not wait for a rent-a-cop to "protect" me. I am pretty sure the board members were law abiding citizens without a means to protect themselves.

Everywhere I've been, it's still illegal to carry a weapon onto school grounds. Board member or not.

So, yes, the gunman broke the law by carrying onto the grounds. This outlier shouldn't give everyone carte blanche to turn school board meetings into the Old West.

Wow, I can honestly say that I would have hit the deck sooner than most and after all was said and done I would have Kicked the shit out of the asshole that escalated the situation. That guy should count his blessings that he insulted a guy that was a very very poor shot. Why talk big and bad then beg him not to shoot you? Dumb asses. The rest of the group should have spoken up to try and defuse the situation, I think for a short time I would have been on the same side as the guy with the guy as opposed to the guy running his mouth.

I believe the point about law abiding citizens being able to carry is to make it a level playing field. Criminals don't follow the law hence the reason for being criminals. Seems like a now a days a school yard it the exact place to carry a weapon. I have a permit to carry and I see no reason to limit the places I can have my gun because there are no places that a criminal won't bring his. I'd like to at least have a level playing field.
