Wiring Question - ARE CX Revo 2020 TRD OR

Hey guys, scored this topper second hand from a local guy near me and I just need to wire the third brake and dome lights. Wondering if anyone had any luck making a T-harness to go with with the current brake lights? I am kind of wary to tap into my harness and causing issues with the warranty down the road.

If nothings, does anyone have the wire schematics color needed to tap into for the brake lightnings? Thanks for any advice!

 

I'm waiting for the connectors to finish my T harness into the brake lights on my 3rd gen. You'll need:
90980-11015
90980-11016

plus the terminals and wire seals. You could also buy pigtails with bare wires and splice off of that.

The brake lights are the middle triangular connector in the tail lights. You want to T the white/black for ground and the blue for the positive. The green for the low glow of the brake bulb passes straight through.

For the interior lighting I cut into the bed lighting harness that goes from the truck harness to the bed light LED. PT85735200AB. I didn't feel bad cutting this and modifying as it's standalone and cheap. Red is positive, black is ground.

There's room to route wires from the taillight area to the bed without drilling. I did have to de-pin the connectors I used to hookup to the canopy as it's tight:

I also used some adel clamps I had lying around at the to 10mm bolt as a wire guide. I need to put some rubber in there so that it acts like a strain relief.

I like the connector you're using to connect the shell to vehicle that you have pictured. Can I get one local? Also, are you running an inline fuse for the brakelight power?

Last thing, the way you have the dome light wired to the bed light, assuming the dome light only works via cargo switch light or when you have the lights on or is the cargo light a constant power source that would let me use the dome light when the vehicle is off?

 

Yeah, since I'm tapping the bed lights they only come on when the bed lights are on. I *think* you have to run your own +12V from the battery to the bed as even the wire in the trailer harness is switched with ignition. It would be nice to be able to control it all from the back but right now I just flip the switch in the cab to 'always on cargo light' when I need it.

If I install a switch pros I will be running a dedicated circuit for the bed lights controllable by it.

If you aren't setup for small crimps or don't have the tooling for Sumitomo TS090 I'd recommend buying the pigtails for the brake lamp connectors and using whatever wire to wire crimps you have on hand and are comfortable with. I tried to use the smallest Weatherpack die I had and wasn't able to get a good crimp so had to improvise with some needle nose.

The connectors I used are Deutsch DTM 2-position connectors. You might be able to find them local at any place that sells Harley Davidson parts or Caterpillar parts. Finding the connectors / pins / sockets / seals is easy but keep in mind you'll also need the tooling to crimp the sockets / pins onto the wire. I only have experience with the solid contacts and use a Daniels AF8 frame and a TH1A turret head positioner. I kind of went overboard and used raychem mini seal splices, ES1000 glue lined to seal the splices, 22759 wire, and DR25 sleeving because I had it all laying around from previous projects. I did buy my connectors from here: https://racespeconline.com

It's one of those "buy once cry once" situations, now that I'm tooled up for Deutsch it makes it easy to use it on any later projects even if its overkill (like it is for canopy to truck wiring that honestly will see ten's of mate/unmate cycles and lives a sheltered life).

Another option is picking up a Curt trailer harness and cutting it up into what you need.
