Roof rack? On the canopy? I run a RTT on mine or that's what I'd do, hence why I want a swingout/removable rear bumper, but I also like the idea of having boxes too

My spare is under the truck. I'm still running 265/70r16s. I never felt the need for oversized tires. I just wanted the swingout for storage (sadly I'll be losing it with the camper I want). I do plan to step up to 265/75r16, but that should still fit under the truck fine. I need me some E rated tires!

I'd bet you could get by with C or D rated just as well. I used to have a 2006 dodge 1500, and if I was still running it, I would have had to replace tires and I was thinking to get D rated for it. That truck was about 6000 lbs for my daily driving

I'd be happy with D, but I want to stick with Duratracs, cause i've really liked them. They only have C and E in the size I want. C has the same load rating as the SLs i'm currently running. Would rather step it up a bit since I run heavy all the time, and also tow a lot.

I designed it to hinge off my relentless high clearance rear bumper but could probably easily be converted to a swing out style I think. Building a Wilco style tire carrier to replace it.

I used to get 2 ton of hay at a time between truck and trailer with my taco on hankook Dynapro ATM c rated. I never had any issues. When you look at what the tires are rated for by weight, and see what your truck weighs, I think you'll find the C and SL are up to the task. The biggest difference will be more flexible sidewalls, which at 5000ish lbs won't really be much different.

When you do get new tires, make sure to get 5, not 4. Gotta keep the spare up to size. On wifey's 4runner, I am thinking to go duratracs when it is time to change tires out next fall, but being stock, I'm thinking to get C rated. Her rig weighs something like 5000 lbs, and does some occasional towing.

No roof rack right now but maybe this is my best option. I haven’t had many trails where height of my rig is an issue.

I switched to E two years ago and the ride is a bit stiffer. I do love that piece of mind though. I was reading you can probably stuff 285/70r17 under there and I think @Shadowhunter was telling me that too.

I am just created two accounts. :argue: Gets boring in these COVID times lol. I think it’s more of a question of how @utroda was so still to have both images of different trucks look identical lol.

I have a 285/75-16 (which is the same size) under my bed. Just needs a little hammer massaging of the guides to get it to fit. Could probably fit a 34 under there if it wasn't inflated.

There’s guys on TW that have massaged a 35” up in there. Gotta mess with the guides and move the tire hanger thingy ma jig back. There is write ups on it here if ya do some digging.

If I was anywhere close to 5000lbs I wouldn't be so worried about it... I'm not over 7K like some people I know, but I am definitely over 6K.

As for five tires, ABSOLUTELY. I still have the OEM spare under there, and it's always concerned me a little that I didn't have quite as capable a tire. When I bump up in size, I'll definitely be getting a fifth tire to match. Especially going up in load capacity.
