    So lets break this down.

    1. My thread got merged into this thread. I dont mind sharing @driverdave666

    2. Lets start by analyzing what makes a Tacoma great, and how this takes it away.
The tacoma is nimble and agile compared to other offroaders like the raptor or powerwagon, or simply Ram Rebel. Adding a huge ass RV in the back removes that.
The Tacoma has a nice balance of weight to engine. You add some sliders, bigger tires and armor you can simply regear it and you're back to that general balance and you still maintain a pleasant driving experience. Adding a huge ass RV in the back removes that.

    3. Lets dive deeper by seeing what the tacoma's bigger issues are and how this makes them worse.
The tacoma has horrible aerodynamics. Most 4x4's do, but the tacoma is notorious for this. Adding a huge ass RV in the back makes this a whole lot worse.
The tacoma is a light truck that sometimes gets manhandled when hit by strong winds. Have you ever been cruising down the highway and the wind picks up and you can feel your tacoma get rocked big time? Adding a huge ass RV in the back makes this a whole lot worse.
The tacoma already tends to struggle when you haul a lot of weight and have big tires even after the regear. Adding a huge ass RV in the back makes this a whole lot worse.

This idea is great! Having an RV on the back of your truck is an awesome idea. Instead of an RTT or actually driving an RV you can have your truck, and drive it too. Like having your cake and eating it. The problem lies in the execution. ow big can the space back there be if it can get hauled by a tacoma? Can you even put a fridge back there? Does it even have a good AC back there? I doubt a fridge, freezer, kitchenette, restroom and shower fit in there next to the beds. Don't you dare tell "why do you want all that" because thats the whole point of an RV. Otherwise I'd just sleep in a tent for the small price (compared to $285K) $1000-3000.

Overall, if this were mounted on something like an F250 for a reasonable price it would be a whole lot better. In the F250 you would have a truck capable of carrying the RV, which would be bigger. You could ride on 35s and not even notice that its there. Then again, who wants an F250. Who would be willing to take a ford cross country? Atleast you'd get your truck repaired in every state.

I'm gonna guess lengthening a frame rail is the easiest part of this terrible idea.

Per the ExpeditionPortal article on it:

"And then there is the Tacoma platform, which receives a smattering of upgrades, including a 12-inch long-travel front suspension, a fully fabricated rear axle, drilled and slotted disc brakes at all four wheels, and available front and rear lockers."

Sounds like they may have lengthened the frame or some sort of link suspension while they were doing all the extra work. Would sorta make sense if they added a cab passthrough as well.

Guessing they went Pro trim, because if you're dropping a quarter mil on a truck, would you want anything less?

Apparently people haven't actually browsed the website. Actually read the options. They state that they reinforce the chassis in all the offroad stages(I,II,II). This isn't anything new, and is actually extremely common in other countries such as South Africa and Australia in order to increase wheelbase and GVWR for "touring" vehicles. Hell, Toyota has contracts with shops in Australia to do this to vehicles prior to selling them straight from the dealership.

I think this is an awesome idea, however they're at least $100k over a reasonable production price. Though I do understand they have to make up their overhead costs of engineering and tooling. I'm sure they know they wont make enough of these to cover costs anything lower than their posted pricing. Think it's fair to say this is not produced or marketed to the majority of the population and doesn't apply to 98% of us. It's the overland equivalent of a Ferrari, Lamborghini, or McLaren while most of us have a Miata budget.

Starts at $285,000USD, fully optioned for $380,000USD. I wonder if this will work out better than Aero Continental?

Considering I've seen TWO half a mil Earthroamers locally in the last month, I'd wager they'll sell a handful.

I think it's a pretty narrow market, there are very few people that can afford a $285-350K Tacoma based Truckhouse that couldn't afford a $590-700K F-550-based Earthroamer LTi. There are several other smaller shops selling setups based off F-250/350 chassis or the GM/Ram equivalent in the $200-400 range. Basically the only thing they have going for them is the smaller size, and is the smaller size actually that desirable?

    For giggles, I specked out a 2021 Tundra 4x4 4-door SR5 with a few extras for $42.7K

Add long travel, wheels, tires, 20K

    Add another 10k for extras

$72.7 for one crazy Tundra my way...

For another $25k (since $ is no problem) a Hawk Model camper top.

Under $100k for the entire rig and $185K left for pocket change, that way I could pull off the camper and go to the mall for coffee.

My thoughts exactly. Although, not as big as the TruckHouse, I'm about 70k into it total. My setup here.

No, I’d complain about squeezing my fat ass from the front seat to the camper via the pass through.

your equation for consideration however is not complete, you now must take into account the $$ to sq.ft. of living camper space ratio, and then later perhaps divide that by vehicle departure angles

    :hattip: departure angle is everything
