Bought truck with only 1 key. Anyone know the specific process to pair the remote key once an un-programmed Smart key is obtained? (Push start).
1 is none 2 is one.

I believe you either have to take it to the dealer or have tech sense to do it.

You pair them in Techstream, Toyota software that accesses all the available electronics functions - same software the dealers use. Some locksmiths have it, dealer obviously, or if you are so inclined Techstream is "available" to consumers as well, you will need a cable too.

Techstream is a computer program that needs a laptop and OBD2 cable. Techstream will walk you through the setup process with on screen prompts. Make the dealer pay for all of that. U should have received 2 keys

10-4. Windows laptop, tractix cable and techstream it is then. @lapoltba and @tonered both have downloads to techstream in their signature I believe

A locksmith is usually way cheaper than the dealer. My local one charges $60 to program keys. And can get key fobs far cheaper than the dealer as well.

least expensive dealer I found was 199 + 60 to program. If I buy the linkage I can also do updates and mess with shit

Key won’t be cut. But that only works for my glove box anyway.

So far, 2 kids' booster seats and 1 infant seat all on the rear seat. Right now, running stock. Planning to take my time with the modding to see what I really need.
How did this work out for you? I was looking at the same fob on Amazon. I'm in the same boat, or Taco rather. Toyota of Seattle quoted $540 for new fob and programming. Burien quoted $490. We did this with our Sienna. And I wish we would have tried other options. I would rather put that $ towards something else needed for the truck.

I'm curious about an update too. I lost 1 key fob. I was thinking about doing the same thing (2020 Taco).

The other option I found was this. It lists it as only for 2019 so not sure if it would work for 2020 push start.

Found a key for $92. Not sure if there is a cheaper option or maybe a more reliable option other than ebay for a similar price

Based on some of the responses here, I googled "locksmiths toyota near Seattle" and found several local locksmiths that can both procure tacoma H-key fobs and offer programming/cutting the key. Prices ranged from $86 to $102 for the key fob units and from $120 - $150 for programming. And some of the locksmiths are mobile and can come to you. So there are much more cost effective options compared to the dealer. And if you don't want to program yourself (which is the least expensive method). Thanks TacomaWorld!

Just a note that you can get a Tactrix for $170 and TechStream for free. The programming is very easy. I had a local locksmith cut a key for the @MESO FlipFob for $4.00:
    https://goo.gl/maps/4JXJGJZ5ehgLGDpW9

Also if you just want it programmed without buying a Tactrix, there are folks that would help you.

To add to it. I bought a cheap but functional key for our Mazda. I just wanted it cut as I had FORScan to program it. The mobile guy that did the cutting didn't listen and programmed the transponder also for about $100. I still had to do the door lock learning. I won't recommend him.
