Holy shit! You mean to tell me the 16-17 year were worse than the mushy slushbox in my 19? I didn't think that was possible.
I suddenly realize how good the 8spd was in my Silverado and the TCM was locked down by GM...

No it's the weight and larger tires. I have a lot of steel and 33's made it worse. I get 320km on a tank if that gives you an idea.

I'm not at that point yet..Im thinking I want to get my performance in check before I start to pile the weight on. Not that I want to pile a bunch on...rims and 285's will add the most, but also want to add a rack and a "slim line" front bumper as I love the look of them. I don't really have plans for a winch or any heavy armour right now.
I'm thinking a tune and exhaust to start. Not sure how these things like a CAI..more research.

Here’s a good video on the install, It took me about 3 hours in my garage with a floor jack , you need to get your hands on the special puller, someone in the group has one,

The Toyota 3.5L engine and AC60 transmission are very good mechanically, able to withstand 500 lb-ft on stock internals when boosted. However, Toyota saddled it with a tune and shift logic optimized for fuel economy. All the OEM TSBs have to toe the line very carefully to maintain the CAFE numbers. Blame Obama.

CAFE standards are also the reason for 0Wxx engine oil and $80-a-can LF transfer case fluid in our trucks.

That's $USD as well. Reason for the yacht-like cost is the one-piece carbon fiber molded construction.

The price is crazy. As soon as I saw carbon fiber in the deposition I figured it would be pricey but wow. I never liked how those look on a pick up.

I'm thinking with some warrantee voiding and a little wrenching I can breath some fire into this V-6.

Well the first link in my post is to the OrangeVirus twin-turbo thread  But you'll need a fuel pump upgrade and Lexus LS500 injectors to get to 500 ft-lbs.

@Tacotim0321 I’ve got a set (puller and installer). Mailed to me from a TEC member, happy to return the favour.

Keep doing all your maintenance you may double that current mileage easily!!!! I would love to build a 2nd Gen Reg Cab 4 x 4 MT.

I could probably fetch decent $ for my 20 year old taco but I would never sell it......I have a list of family members who will get it that includes my son and a couple of young teenage nephews. My son drives a beauty 2012 4runner with an RTT.

Your mention of Exeter Toyota caught my eye, They have always been considered one of the best Toyota dealerships in Canada for customer service and I order all my OEM taco parts from them. They service my Tundra at work and my daughters Corolla.
