Buyer Beware: KTJO 4X4 Driver's Side Grab Handles w/ A Pillars, HUD, and Bowl Lights

Part arrived. Looks fine minus the wrong bolts. Emailed them and already have new bolts in route.

 

I got buddies that died face down in the muck, so that you and I could enjoy this family restaurant!

Oh gosh I don’t believe it i also got a shipment notification, but for some reason I somehow got 2 different shipment notifications with 2 different tracking numbers. Wonder what’s in store for me lol

 

Top bolts not even close to lining up, unless like others pull/force pillar to windshield which leaves you with gaping gaps like @tonered

you said you were able to bend bracket by hand? I put the bolt in and used it to flex but not much movement. Guess I’ll have to put more elbow in it. I’ve already shaved/trimmed/sanded down the edges of both covers, added a few 5-6 strips of duct tape to make the cover sit more flush with the handle. I’ll have to take a picture when I bend the bracket next time.

As did I. When I checked the tracking, It showed it originated in my home town awaiting package, I suspect it is the return shipment label for the damaged handle.

In all transparency, I did get a text from Brian that said a return label would be included with the exchange part.
But when I got the notification from USPS about two tracking numbers, "I never made the connection". When I opened the tracking histories, it clicked for me.

 

That's funny, I guess since I have already swapped with @tonered, I just need to send it right back! Unless it is prettier than the one I have.

That would be really funny if it didn't have a remote possibility of being true.

 

Just did mine today. Like others I had to adjust the upper mount. I also used an M6 clip nut for the lower bracket. I prepped the covers first. I filed and sanded them down to get a better fit. I found some mold flashing on the grab handle innards and used an X-acto knife to remove them. I used a blow dryer on the covers while on the handle and heated them to get a better fit.

For the upper bolt mount, I put the A pillar on loosely and threaded the top bolt in. Flushed the A pillar down by hand to see how much I would have to bend the mount. Used a 10mm deep socket to hold it and worked it in till the A pillar bushing hole was centered. Removed it all and installed a self centering clip nut on the lower mount. I did get the correct clip nut in the kit but had already purchased another. Went ahead installed it. Secured it in place. One thing I forgot was to place the foam from the original A pillar on, but I think I have some extra foam weather strip lying around to put in there later. I tugged on pretty hard and it is holding nicely.



A couple of extra notes, I prepped handle covers last night and went ahead did the whole install today. Getting the covers to sit flush and checking the handle itself for any mold residue was the longest part of the process. Actual install took about 10 minutes. I was anal about everything going back in to place. I probably took about an extra 5 minutes just putting the tweeter cover back in place. I already had the Kicker tweets installed when I upgraded them. All in all, it's not perfect but it meets my needs.

IMO, the longer bolt should be used for both mounts, I noticed the shorter bolt didn't have much to bite on when starting it in. The shorter bolt did work but I think one like the upper bolt would work too.

 

I don't know why the melted remains of my handle smells so bad.
