What Have You Done To Your 2nd Gen Tacoma Today?

About time somebody offered these in stainless... and when is someone gonna sell the damn bed bolts in stainless... I was going to put a stainless kit together for the entire bed but I couldn't find the actual bed bolts, I did find everything else.

 

IMO, that IS terrible for 180k miles. Does it have a leak?

Mine's at 135k, 5k on the current oil, no loss at all on the dipstick.

I stuffed 10lbs of tire in a 5lb bag.....or something like that. Got my spare 285/75r16 into the stock location under the bed. Had to smash the spare tire support tabs into the frame, and it barely fits in there. Rear diff clears, and I have a hair clearance from the exhaust heat shield. Fingers crossed I dont melt a $200 tire. Thinking of deflating it to get a little more space.

Soak the bolts right beneath the head and the threads under the bed religiously everyday for a few days. The ones near the tailgate were the easiest for me. Pray you don’t have to remove the ones closest to the cab lol

 

I had the same problem with mine, threw some vice grips on there in order to help spin them out. Worked like a charm.

he’s right. They all hold a 90 degree angle and add a tie down.

how many tie downs??
Bottle opener?
Antannae/flag whip mount?
How high up the sides?
Will you have to trim your mat?

if any of those things interest you or matter, then search accordingly.

I went total chaos also. Love the abundance of tie downs and the whip mounts.

Oh yeah, valve cover was leaking but that’s seemed to have slowed down, and I’m sure it’s coming from somewhere else. My trucks had a hard life with its last 2 owners so I’m not surprised it’s losing some oil at this point

 

I’m sure you could use any style stainless bolt for the bed bolts as long as they are the right size and thread.

Got my hood struts on today. I definitely recommend them!

 

The only thing I would suggest is determine whether you are going to run the metal bed rails or not. Some stiffeners will require you to trim either the stiffener or the bed rail. Otherwise they all do the same thing.

 

I chose to run the Total Chaos ones due to the fact that they run the entire height of the bedside and have an extra bolt. However I have no idea how much additional stiffening this actually provides.

Started de-badging. Took off the “PreRunner V6 SR5” badges. Doors are next, but I think I’m gonna leave the ones on the left side of the tailgate.
