Get a quote for extended warranty, you won't like it. That's why we ended up with an infiniti and not a GL450

I think I've cleaned my SR9 once? It has stayed in the truck/car/drawer. Full of dust and grit, and the bastard shoots like new. I love that thing!
I do find cold+cheap ammo makes my SR9 stovepipe. Of all the possible ways to jam, I'll take it!
I hate CVTs, but the newest gen of Outback/Forester/Ascent is impressive! I'd at least give a 2015+ Outback a shot. Those cars have come a LONG way from the 90's/00's
It doesn't cost anything to ask questions! See what their opinion is.
Don't worry, I've never owned a Tacoma  I have the Tacoma's dad and grandpa though! My 82 and my 93.
Kinda like the CVT in my Crosstrek :anonymous: But I got mine replaced under warranty by Subaru at 125k :humble:
The first gen of CVT was horrific, but the newer ones and the high torque ones are much much better! They beat the piss out of the Ford DPS6. We are still replacing those clutches. I have one vehicle here right now that is on it's 3rd clutch replacement at 76k...

Also, HEY BUD! How's life been?

Whelp, morning y'alls. Found a truck I am going to drive today, might be another Ford in the ranks here if it goes well.

What do the Ford experts think of the '17 with 5.0 V8 and 6spd? Used truck, will be the first used truck I've bought in over 20 years.
    https://www.fordoflondonderry.com/c...0a0e0a6b3fdb7a8af08a38c4.htm?searchDepth=2:8#

    That page has a misprint, it's not a 2.7 ecoboost, it's the 5.0.

Any experiences with the 7yr, 100k mile limited powertain warranty?

I really liked the 150 with the 5.0 and 6 speed although mine was the older, heavier body style. My initial reaction is $41k is way too much for a 4 year old truck but that's beside the point... Towing, the 5.0 loves RPMs. I found myself towing a lot more in manual mode because I got sick of listening to it shout in the mountain passes when it had plenty of power to hold the same speed in a higher gear. I tuned it, I went with the Omega tune from Tuning by Oz primarily to make the transmission be more predictable and do what I wanted while towing. That said, mapping did change from my 2013 to the one your looking at so, out of the box, yours could be better. The 5.0 was a solid powerplant, I really enjoyed driving it and it was easy to work on.

One thing to note about that one, right out of the box, it doesn't have the integral brake controller. If you jump at it, maybe make it part of the deal that they install one (they're simple to install, it's $150, 30 minute install and then Ford needs to plug into the ECU and 'turn it on' so don't let them lead you to believe it's some big thing to install it)

My mom just bought this last week. 2017 5.0 V8. The aluminum body is super appealing to me, and I'll be honest, I road tested it before she bought it. I love how smooth and quiet it is! I think it's a solid choice!
Awesome man! Yeah, definitely come by or we can grab some beers! I bought a house 2.5 years ago and I'm loving it. It has a big ol garage so I have far too many projects going on (as you can see in my signature lol).

My number hasn't changed. Shoot me a text!

Have you looked at what the Lariats are selling for equipped like that? It's a $58k truck now. I am going to try and get them under $40 but it's kinda inline with what I am seeing out there with these features. And Ford is always a little more than the others.

The brake controller thing is really pissing me off to be honest. Why is Chevy the only manu. that builds the controller into the truck for the half tons? This truck even has the stupid trailer backing up thing. Why would you spend all sorts of money on that and not have a brake controller?

Will the factory controller be kind of integrated at least? I don't want an external brake controller- it's a pet peeve.

What do you like about the aluminum body? Just curious.

Only annoying thing with the way that's optioned is you won't have 4-Auto. The snow plow prep package removes that. May or may not be a big deal to you. Besides that, it's a good looking truck. I like the front ends of the 15-17 better than mine.

Those STXs are a good deal. Basically still at a work truck price but you get the options people care about most.

Yeah, sticker on mine was $62 and it's an extended cab. They're nuts.

@Pugga is right, TBC is no big deal. You can get the OEM brake controller for $100ish (maybe a little more now) and install it in a half hour. Then you just need either Forscan or a dealer to activate it. It works great and is integrated with the dash display at that point. I did that on my 2018. It goes right below the trailer backup knob, where the empty cubby is now.

I can take a couple pictures of the brake controller screens on mine if you want.

The 15-20 had weird tow package options. The regular tow package has trailer backup, but no brake controller. Max tow has everything including a locker and larger gas tank for a lot less than adding any of that individually but for some reason dealers rarely order those.

Some of them actually need to be hardwired and stuff. We were running the 1/2 hour plan on one truck and were like... uh oh! It took 3 hours to wire it in.

It's definitely a good value! The only complaints I would have are manual seats with no height adjustment, and no heated seats. I'm spoiled and I have back problems

When I bought my 2018, I was worried about that. I had read a bunch of people were getting trucks with no circuit for the brake controller and Ford was replacing fuse blocks on them.

Oh, see I'm glad I asked. That kinda sucks. Need to think about that. I love the 4-auto in the GMC.

This would be my pick for something similar to that truck around the same price:

    https://www.automaxpreowned.com/auto/used-2019-ford-f-150-lariat/51495570/

5.0, same gear ratio, but it's a 502a so it has more stuff in it (LED headlights, heated steering wheel, wiper deicers, B&O sound), no plow prep pack so it maintains 4 Auto, and it has the brake controller.
