I refuse to pay for a radio service that does not work when I use the bank's drive-thru service or when I park under a tree. I have been amassing an MP3 collection the past 11-years that I prefer to listen to.

I was just clarifying your first line there. The 2020+ have their own cellular connection. It is not through the owner's phone.

For me, I'm very ugly and have no friends. Being able to push a button and have a friend to share my issues with, is priceless.

The truck’s cell phone is used for the wifi connect feature as well. That one, gives you nothing your existing cell phone won’t.

    Big no from me.

I’m not a fan of paying subscription services, in general. I’ve been driving for years with no “connectivity” and don’t see the need to have it, now. Heck, I didn’t have a cell phone when I started driving.

Heck, cell phones were decades away when I started driving. But we had radios. I don’t remember what the desl was in paying for your license to operate them was.

I feel personally attacked by this. I ran an errand to a friends house the other day and he was giving me shit for wearing a $500 watch and walmart brand basketball shorts.

Yep. I tried to explain I can build value in the watch, under armours $30 shorts are the same material and craftsmanship as the $3 ones I bought at walmart on sale. He just doesnt get it.

That $500 knife doesn't require a subscription to operate (yet, anyway), and will do you a hell of a lot more good than that remote start... priorities.

I’ve been debating keeping the remote connect service. I use the remote start all the time and I like being able to check the app to make sure I locked my doors. Is it worth $80 a year to me? I’m still debating that.

N2 Designs - $199 ...remote start. Nothing but about 45 minutes required to install (easy install). You own it. No subscriptions ever... No brainer...and no smart phone app.

And shit range. I have it and ended up adding the module because toyotas fob range is so bad. And now I pay 35 bucks a year for convince of starting a truck I can't see. Sitting in a restaurant couple taps on my watch it's running. I use it a lot.

Still, I don't get the uproar here about paying for the app. Your truck needs to use the cell network for the app to work. That's not free. Do you expect Toyota to pay that for? The fob not working is bullshit though.

I never even thought about subscriptions to the safety connect and wifi. I seen on the Toyota app that the trial time on them for me is counting down since the day I bought the truck in July. I signed a paper to opt out of telemetry data collection or something like that at the dealership too.

I don't need wifi in my vehicle I have home internet and a cell phone with unlimited data so that's just triple up on the services.

I have had a drivers license since 1991 and drove cars made in the 70s on up and even crash one or two and lived to type this with out an SOS button to press. Somehow the EMS always got called even before most people had a cellphone. Not even curious about pressing that little red square. I try to ignore it's existance.

Being that I work in tech you would think I'd like to have it all on but no. I like some disconnect too.

I do however like XM radio and have been a long time subscriber. I like the no commercial music and the many kinds of music, mostly older stuff FM don't play or talks over and jabbers too much. In the last year's I always call to cancel before the expiration and get a 6 months or year promo deal. I got a year for $99 plus taxes and fees when the trial expired this time on a mail offer they sent. I even had $60 credit with them from my old Liberty that I sold to apply to it so yeah it was a deal can't say no to. It was the all access package too.

You just said you are getting the same service for $35/yr, assuming the typical fucking that comes with anything in technology we can assume that includes a 300% mark up. So actual cost is probably $10/yr spread out over the million plus of vehicles equipped.

Like every other factory installed option, it's a giant ass fucking.
