Well first drive in the truck with new abs sensor...abs kicked in everytime i touched the brakes then the light came back on saying foreign object on sensor. :annoyed:

    Update:

Reading on a 4runner forum and if you have a leaking cv axle it can put grease/crap into the the ring the sensor reads and messes up that way....my axle has been leaking for longer than i care to admit. Seems like that may be my issue...but weird it never caused an issue before.

Nice. That would be my preferred spot for mounting a CB as well.

Probably work better for you than it did for me - the 12v outlets on the older model kind of get in the way so it doesn't suit up as high as I wanted it to and the Mic cord gets in the way of first gear.
Probably going to move the antenna to behind the cab too. I really only put it up front because I didn't have enough cable to get to the back and I thought it would be good to have it in my line of site so I don't forget and drive into a parkade or something with it on, but it's in my line of sight lol. I don't think my home made ditch light bracket is really strong enough for it either. I am playing around with the idea of picking up a smaller antenna to have on there full time and running coax to the back for a larger one just when I'm in the woods as my radio came with a switcher. But time and money..

its most definately a 2020 Cruiser.
he told me that he bought it from an armored car company that buys cruisers for their chassy / drivetrain, and gets rid of the body's

we had a while to chat since he was removing the tires from the rims using his own tire machine.

So I replaced my alternator the other day as it was making death noises. Started the engine up and still making death noises. AC compressor turns out also had dead bearings. So 3 broken bolts later, a hunt threw my scrap pile, and the luck of a hoarder I have a brand new AC compressor and alternator. I think the stupid thing was just jealous of all the work I have been doing to the BMW that it had to start whining.

Don't forget about tuning your CB, I run (ran) my antenna at the back of my box, and given the location and a bunch of other odd, nerdy (;)) radio jargon I needed to run a 4 foot antenna. The three foot worked, but my SWR readings were in the danger zone (risk of damage to your radio when sending a signal) and my range sucked.

I have an SWR meter...... somewhere? I think I had lent it to someone, but I can't remember who. If I figure that out and get it back, you're more than welcome to give it a try.

I actually lucked out with my radio - it came with an swr meter and a tunable 5' antenna, as well as the 4' one I put on it just to get it going. Canoehead and I tested it out and my range does suck right now so getting the bigger antenna on and tuning it is next on my list.

HI, new to the forums, 2nd Tacoma but first one I am trying to kit out for some off road fun, I live outside Halifax and hoping somebody on here can help me out. I am trying to look for a company that can fabricate a bed rack, similar to a Voodoo or RCI rack that can fit over a tonneau cover for my Tacoma. I have reached out to a couple of local shops in Dartmouth but they are asking 45,500-6,500 plus tax to build the rack. If I order from the USA it is between $1500-1800 US plus shipping, duty and exchange so brings it in around $2500.

I am hoping somebody can point me to a shop that I can work with to get something built. I have some rough drawings and measurements but I can't believe that I can't get something built for around $1000-1200. Let me know if somebody knows of a place that I can work with.

    Thanks appreciate it

    Hey @Tazzmacd
    welcome!

what Gen Truck do you have now?
I'm not sure of a local shop that won't quote you prices that you've already mentioned, but I do know this guy who has a tube bender, plasma cutter and welder who might be able to help you out. Word on the street is he's going to be selling some truck amour here soon ( its me BTW )

so if your in not too much of a hurry i'm sure we could figure something out. if not, I can think of two other people that could help.

    Here is some exciting news,
V1.5 of my sliders is done, Just need to test mount to make sure I'm happy with the modifications ( clearing the pinch weld )

    ACtC-3cx9Ks93hSGQxFKBUL_dApwVxvvZfdcWsWQ_2730e654d8ef935adc06b4fb6bf2a93ced10ee59.jpg

I just wanted to "tack" the legs in place while I checked out the clearance, but I got this new welding hood for Christmas, and I was so impressed by the clarity and field of view that before I knew it, I welded each leg up 1/2 way :smack:

lets hope I don't have to grind the legs off..... AGAIN!

this reminds me of the motto " we do it right because we do it twice! " or in my case, possibly thrice..

I have a Gen 3, 2020 model and I just found a guy in Dartmouth that is going to get one made up for me at a much more reasonable price. Once I get everything finished out I will post some pictures about it. It might be a couple months away.
But thanks, Appreciate the reach out and info.
