Where are you? I am looking for that same configuration. There isn't one in all of Southern California. And if there was, the dealers won't budge from MSRP. I have been looking for a month, trying to find one.

I am in southern Oregon. I could have gotten a long bed in this configuration easier but wanted the short bed. My understanding is most of the dealers that had these (cement dcsb) had them marked for no trade and mine came from a dealer up around the Portland area.

They don’t seem to mind doing it at all in my experience.

...^^^... FWIW ... I just negotiated a super discounted deal over a week ago (I ordered a RAV4 for the wife) and the vehicle won't be at the dealer until next month.

From my experiences ... it's very common to negotiate a deal for a vehicle not on the dealer's lot yet ... it may be in a manufacturing slot or in transit.

I have special ordered my last 2 Ford vehicles. No real "haggling" involved as this dealer is a "1 Price" store that charges Invoice (or what the present as invoice cost) - any rebates. No different than a truck they have on the lot. I like to SO because you get exactly what you want any nothing you don't. I live in the SE and have never found a Toyota dealer that will do a SO. One told me that the SE distributor doesn't allow it.....but I have no idea if that is a fact.

...^^^... The way I understand it in SE with SET is ... you can order a truck ... but that order is not really a Special Order ... but your order gets paired with something already spec'ed with a manufacturing slot and/or a delivery date.

This speeds up manufacturing and delivery and cuts down on an odd ball build and possible liability too.

Like I said, I don't know how exactly SET operates, in regard or special orders. All I have to go on is my own experiences, with more than one dealership, telling me they could not do a special order. Yes, you can do a search of the entire SET inventory and likely find something close to what you want but then I've been told that most units are already earmarked for a dealership and would require said dealer "releasing" the unit to your dealer, which is no guarantee. Again, I have no evidence to back any of this.

Last weekend I drove from Austin to San Antonio to pickup the new truck. No dealers in Austin wanted to work a deal, but I found some within a 2 hour drive. I consider the drive back through Texas hill country as a bonus.

Which dealer did you buy from? I bought my Tacoma from Charles Maund Toyota in Austin (research blvd) and was able to negotiate back in September. (never mind just saw you bought a pro, makes sense. They rarely drop from msrp on those, you got a good deal)

this is hands down one of the best deals I’ve seen... 5k off a pro!? That’s unheard of. I’m in austin too and contacted dealers outside of austin. Best deal I found was like $500 off

$5k off which if you look closely was pretty much a ton of accessories and port / dealer add ons. Little different than asking a dealer for $5k off a bare pro.

Agree, was really hard to find a Pro in Austin area, let alone get a discount. I believe there was some missteps by the dealer and I happen to to catch right place, right time.

I understand, and partially agree. However, they were nearly all options I wanted anyway. Stuff like locking tailgate, trail rails, flaps, bed lights, tint... They pre-installed an alarm add-on and tried charging for it. I didn't go for it and had it physically removed before leaving the dealer. The tint job was nice and they used ceramic, but I could have got it $200 cheaper elsewhere. There was legitimately about $1000 of add-ons I would not have opted for, but the rest I was happy with. After that extra 1k, I still felt the $4,400 was a solid deal.

Hey all, been combing through the posts and it seems this may be close to the best deal I can find locally. Any opinions would be appreciated!

    2021 Tacoma Off Road DC
    4x4 V6
    LED Package
    Blackout package
And some other BS (predator tubes)

Asking price of 41069 (MSRP), got them down to 37907. I would like to get to 36500 but they really aren't budging anymore after a week or so.

    Thoughts?

I think thats a decent deal. Most of us buying in Dec/Jan, if we negotiated hard, have seen 10% discount off MSRP. You are pretty close. I would take it, if its the truck you want.

Yeah that is what I thought...appreciate the advice. I initially had negotiated a SR5 4x2 down to 31750 from 38000 before deciding I'd rather go with the greater utility the OR offers, was hoping to replicate those results BUT realize a SR5 without 4x4 is not as sought after as a OR 4x4. Around me (Gulf region) there aren't many OR's in the exact config I want and most have add-ons out the wazoo ($300 for N2 in the tires, $800 for window tint!?!? No thanks bud).

Wow. Definitely one of the better deals for a TRD PRO in the recent months I've seen. Bought exact same with prob half the add-ons a couple weeks ago and couldn't even budge a discount. Barely was able to haggle $300 off in the end on top of a $800 dealer discount. Otherwise everywhere else was marking up $5K-$10K +(and they were laughing when I asked if I can pay MSRP lol) ... Had to fly in to Houston, Texas from Nevada so had a long fun drive back home!

I go back to my original idea that this was simply right place, right time. I suspect a pricing issue that was not caught until we were too far into the deal. We moved very quickly when we found it and secured the truck asap. The dealer had another nearly identical truck in inventory that was without any discounts or incentives. Not even close to the deal we got.
