This last summer. Two people agreeing about their relationship is as good as it can go.

Is what it is, your definitely not the first and absolutely positively will not be the last. Hope you got to keep the house and most importantly your shop.

The shit'll buff out. Onward and upward as they say.

Yeah, no quarrels about anything. Quick refi for a lower rate, pulled some cash out and bought another house. Everyone's happy.

Oh, it's so ON! As soon as I finish up this graphic I'm working on for work, I'm going to get outside in the sun and work on the awning mount and roof rack!

    Sooo close!

Got the mount into place so I could mark the holes. Measure, eyeball, measure, eyeball...

    PXL_20210114_194116618.jpg
Then inspect everything again...maybe even three more times. So you can catch stuff like this. Almost messed myself up here!

    PXL_20210114_194608239.jpg
Not gonna lie...this hurt a little. I hate drilling holes in perfectly good boxes.

    PXL_20210114_203325026.jpg
    PXL_20210114_203330785.jpg
But then I had to haul balls because the sealant skins over very quickly. I laid a bead around each hole on the outside as well as a bead all the way down the length. Then a little sealant under the washers on the outside and in the inside. Then I got lucky and was able to tighten all the fasteners by myself. Wasn't sure I'd be able to reach both sides but I could!

Then I tossed on the roof rack cross bars, drilled the mounting holes and bolted it all up! Except one teeny tiny little hitch. The very last bolt and nut seized and now I have to very slowly, awkwardly and painstakingly cut the bolt and do it again. So, instead, I out the tools away, came inside, took my shoes off to let the rage heat escape, and made some lunch. I'll be back at it shortly to finish it up.

Seems pretty solid. Two things left: mount the awning and get caps for the opposite ends of the roof rack cross bars. There are some end caps at the hardware store that'll probably be fine. They are just like rubber cane tips. Whatever...just need to keep the water out. I'll probably use something like motorcycle grip glue or something to attach them.

Man, this thing is really coming together. Can't wait to see it sans flat bed. Think you'll install boxes in front of the rear wheels?

No, there's going to be propane there and maybe a few other things. Not quite sure yet.

can you do a quick hand drawn looking down picture of the camper showing boxes, and sleeping areas with rough dimensions? I love this thing you have built, but with the small space inside it has to be impossible to take a true pic showing size and layout. I have looked at these pics and keep thinking wow, thats a tight fit.

How much head room you got? Nothing like getting dressed and smashing your arm/head/appendage into the ceiling.

Tons of room. Probably right at 48"...maybe a tad more. It feels really tall in there. If I wanted to sleep in a coffin, I would have just bought a truck camper shell and slept on a platform in the back.

See that's what's kept me away from a teardrop or doing the campershell. I'm thinking 8x10 enclosed trailer conversion sometime down the road.

    Big day today!

    PXL_20210115_212803820.jpg
Started the awning mounting process by being smart. Instead of moving the awning up to the rack, I raised the ground up to the rack. :D

Thank goodness I procrastinated a full year on making a new railing for my porch.

    PXL_20210115_213318771.jpg
Here I am starting the tedious process of fitting the awning. Let's just say my holes weren't exactly where they should have been.

    But...
    PXL_20210115_233707908.jpg
    PXL_20210115_233715510.jpg
I did get it done! Took it in the freeway and no additional noise that I noticed. Didn't notice the weight either. So, all good so far!

I'll open it up tomorrow and see how that process looks with this tall ass camper. Definitely going to need a step stool.

I think a tear drop would be fine but I'd want one of the boxier ones I think. Honestly, it wouldn't be that much different than what I've built...just lower. If you want standing room, the converted cargo trailer is a good, inexpensive way to get there.
