This is completely ridiculous, and I want it.

 

The archive garage ubolt flip came in so was able to progress with the axle build. Was able to remove the current axle and mockup the new one. Finally have driveshaft length so I can put that on order. While installing the axle, it looked like the 3rd member wasn't going to clear the fuel tank skid, but still plenty of room after cycling. Its like she was destined to be there haha.

 

Looks so good! Cant wait to see how it comes together. Whats your long term goal with this truck?

 

Air. I believe his long term goal was air.

 

I am not sure if I really have a set end in mind for the truck. I enjoy changing aspects of the truck to perform how I want them and of course continue to learn. I do imagine a go-fast vehicle that I can take out camping. I definitely don't have any plans to do a fancy camping setup. I like my smittybilt tent and suits me fine.

Some of the targets I would like to hit:
- completing tundra axle
- bed cage to hold my tent since i have fiberglass now
- sprung under setup with deaver 62"
-far into the future when my 4.0 is done, I would like to put a lexus 2uz or 3uz with a R155f manual trans. I like the fact of keeping it toyota and I definitely don't want to part with my manual trans

Love it. I also can't deny the 2uz with manual has never left my mind as well....

 

Leaf spring perches are burned in for good. Ill be throwing the shocks back in next so I can bolt the axle back up and tack in the shock mounts.

 

It's so intriguing but just can't justify it when my 4.0 does just fine right now and ill probably get at least another 100K out of it haha

 

Same here. Toyed with supercharging the 3.5 in DP but probably get an 80 series instead.

I like the 80 series idea. In my opinion, you would get more bang for your buck...of course you would probably spend more, but that's just me.

 

There is no way I'm ever selling DP. Never get what you want out of em once you go as far as we have.
I'd get one to have also, although would not have to go as crazy as they are pretty capable from the start.
Would just need to get 35's under it.

 

I meant the 80 series or the supercharger. I'm with ya; I wasn't suggesting selling DP haha

 

Started working on the ABS wiring. As you would probably guess, the tacoma wiring harness is too short for the tundra axle so I went ahead and spliced and extended it using part of the cut tundra harness I had...continuity is in check. The main harness connector for the tacoma and tundra are identical so I could probably just buy a tundra abs harness if I wanted to but figured I'd save a few bucks and try this first. The next piece to the puzzle were the abs sensors. The tacoma sensor uses a different connector than the tundra but fits in the tundra wheel bearing and is the correct gap to the encoder ring. The polarity gapping on the ring is identical around the circumference for the tundra and tacoma so I'm pretty confident the response wave will be correct. I didn't bother counting so not positive but the diameter is the same. I guess we'll see when I have it all hooked up to the truck, but it should work.

Initial prototype for the 1350 t-case flange came in. Its currently made from an MC 30 spline flange and a 1350 spicer flange. Both were turned down, press fit, welded together, and turned down a second time to match oem specs. Production goal would be a single piece. Would also prefer to retain the dust shield because I like oem, but we'll see haha.

Still plenty to do but she's back on the ground at least! Brake lines and abs wires routed so we at least have brakes. Next thing on the list is the ebrake cable. The driveshaft should be in this week. I'm not going to start setting the gears up in the front until I know everything works properly in the rear.
