Interesting that the OP is a previous Ford owner and questioning Toyota paint work. I just traded out of a 2017 F250 and still own a 2015 Mustang GT and both vehicles have/had laughable paint work faults.......I just accept that on mass-produced vehicles, you're going to have paint faults.

My Tacoma is MGM and I really haven't studied the paintwork but nothing stands out. In fact, I've had several people compliment the color. Again, metallic paint on a mass-produced vehicle is going to have flaws. I understand that even custom painters can have issues with metallics.

    Yeah...that was on my Offroad.
I figure it's a remnant of the injection process.
4 years of afternoon sun made that particular side worse.
I was able to get it off with Meguiar's polish.

It's a Tacoma not a Porsche. Plastic paints different than metal. In the year 2021 you will not find old school paint jobs unless done after the fact by a good shop. Either except it's a Tacoma and enjoy it or find a higher end car with nicer paint and enjoy that.

bumpers are painted seperately from the rest of the car, which is why they always don't match exactly the same. My inferno is off too. Also plastic vs metal.

Plastic vs metal is the biggest difference. The plastic has a texture that the primer doesn’t hide. If you sand the primer flat and then cut the paint flat it will be smooth but these are built on an assembly line with robots spraying the paint so it isn’t a labor intensive job. Automation....you gotta love it. Gone are the days of hand rubbed lacquer paint jobs on cars.

When was the last time they hand rubbed paint jobs? That's like a 10k paint job because of the labor.

we are not talking a difference in orange peel texture here. we are talking an entirely different sheen. I have never seen ANY company put out a vehicle with this much difference in paint match. even other toyotas I have looked at, heck even my '07 toyota sienna

its because the bumper is made of plastic. you can keep looking but you wont find a tacoma that doesnt have a difference between the bumper and the body. if that is a deal breaker you might as well stop wasting your time.
