Did a MPG test using the EPAs' criteria for testing highway MPG and got 26.5 mpg.

VEHICLE: Tacoma 2020 TRD Off-Road stock everything.

TEST CRITERIA (they use a dyno & I used the highway)

    - 10 miles
    - 48 mph average
    - 60 mph not exceeded
    - No stopping
    - No AC on
    - Engine warmed
    - Wind 12 mph from the side hitting driver side
    - Temp 42F
    - Humidity 67%
    - Boredom 100%

For MPG measurement used the Tacoma display information feature "Average Fuel Economy" that can be reset on the fly. Not to be confused with "Tank Average Fuel Economy."

For average speed used the Tacoma display information and an app on my phone.

FWIW, the MPG measurement displayed on the dash with my truck is very inconsistent. The only way I can get an accurate MPG is to do it with a manual calculation.

Same here. From what I read, the display is only accurate as long as you're running stock rims, tires, and suspension. Suspension lift, bigger rims/tires, armor, and other gear will cause it to be innacurate. At least this is what I've noticed since I've been adding weight.

My highway fuel economy test was not the EPA approved one. 2900 miles across country in 3 days of driving in a brand new truck, speeds ranging from 85 mph across TX to 65 mph across Virginia, hand calculated tanks between a low of 16.5 and a high of 20.1.

I can attest these trucks dropped fuel economy significantly durning the winter months, especially during warmup. Went from a 23 mpg average to 20 mpg once it got very cold here, and thats driving over the same roads/trips here.

It would appear that 5k RPM is the sweet spot for maximum mpgs.

I was able to get to 22 mpg uncorrected (so probably closer to 23mpg) for tire size going about 50 on a long stretch of hwy (not freeway). This is including a full camping load with my family, 285/70/17s, lift and front/rear bumper. If you drive it like a granny you'll get some decent mpgs.

My only goal is to get 300 miles or better on a tank full of fuel. If I can do that I don’t care what my mpg is. During my Christmas trip I averaged about 330 miles a tank over a 2000 mile trip.

I think you may be right... When I got my 2.7 in Aug. (Still warm out) I was getting close to 24 mpg average. Now that it's constantly 30* - .. (And 600 lbs of tube-sand in the back) I'm getting just about 21 mpg and very rarely putting it into 4x4 ...
I kinda' assumed it was the computer 'learning' my driving habits, even though I run in CC 80% of the time and let the computer pick the best combo of power/mpg's.
It'll be interesting to see what happens when the weather warms up and an empty bed.

I just checked my truck today after a fillup...19.9 mpg, but its been below freezing most of the days. I even brought my tire pressure up to spec. I'm waiting for the summer weather too,

I cracked 400 miles on a tank on the last (slowest) leg of our cross country trip. 400.2 miles on 19.938 gallons for 20.07 MPG.

Wow, that is incredible fuel mileage, I have never ever gotten past 22.5 on a full tank, even when completely stock. Now I average around 16-16.5mpg.
