Buyer Beware: KTJO 4X4 Driver's Side Grab Handles w/ A Pillars, HUD, and Bowl Lights

I have every season on a harddrive somewhere.

 

Rewatched every episode in one 96 day deployment. had nothing else to do but work, gym, sleep, eat, watch movies in a 180 square yard compound we couldn't leave with shitty internet.

Day 2 of warranty/refund request waiting with no reply.

 

Short answer: 5 days (Request 1/6, response from Katie 1/11).

Longer answer: Less if you count the response from Brian (1/8) that was basically "you'll receive more information soon" and then didn't receive anything else until I emailed back and he said it was slated to go out (1/9).

I never got an email response from Katie, only Brian. But I also messaged Katie on Instagram and had a few days of back and forth. I finally caught a message right as she sent it so I was able to message back and forth a little bit and was told she had my replacement ready to go out. The next morning (12th) I received 3 tracking numbers (1 is a return label, 1 hopefully the handle... not sure about the 3rd.)

 

It's only day 2. Maybe I'll just keep submitting my warranty claim info ever 3 days until I get an answer.

Edit: ah, the greybeige color. Hmmm. Maybe just tell Katie and have her send a return box? Or...buy beer and whiskey for everyone for the effigy burning?

Well, I didn't know what I was getting into. I bought the grab handle. It took about 2 weeks to get here. It wasn't damaged but there is 2 issues. There is a gap at the top of it, its not completely flush with the interior and for some reason the hole covers would not snap on and stay on. I just bought my 2021 Taco 1 month ago. I didn't know about this thread and I haven't read all 166 pages. Could someone give me a sitrep? If convenient. TIA

 

Welcome, Beth! I advise you read the entire thread. It’s important. Some goober will shortchange it and try to impress you, but really, be a completist.

Maybe you should rock it. Like the guys with the unpainted fender flares. Get a matching one for the other side. Hey, you’ll be the only one.

 

Cliffnotes: KTJO4x4 is a shitshow. The grab handle is a shit show. You made need to bend the fuck out of some Plug-n-Play OEM items that you purchased to get them to line up like only non-Plug-n-Play OEM items would. Go to the search bar, type in something along the lines of bend, bending, had to bend, etc and then click the box that says, "This thread only" and that may get you to the info you seek.

In case you haven't see, these parts suck....

 

It's definitely an entertaining read if you have some time...

Otherwise, seems like the concensus on the alignment is that you have to bend the metal top mount some to line it up better. I think someone elongated the holes on the grab handle instead of bending metal, but I don't remember who or how it worked out.

I'm not sure as far as the covers not staying in place.

You will get charged for the second one. Then you'll return it for a refund b/c you didn't want it, paying for the return shipping, but in transit the box will get beat to $hit. Since the whole thing was totally your fault, she won't refund you, but she couldn't anyways, because she's on said vacation you just helped fund....
