How many cars have you owned in a lifetime? Your generalization is false about all makes being the same. There are junkers out there. If you want to see the ratings look at consumer reports.

 

180k 2011 and I’ve had it since 157k.

Only things I’ve done since getting the truck is oil changes and spark plugs (for peace of mind)

Only thing that went wrong so far was a bad fuse.. OEM was $13 I believe from the stealership

I'm at 210,000 on my 2007 that I bought new. I have some paint peeling on the hood. The seats and carpet are a little dirty, but she still runs like new. I replaced the alternator at 180,000 miles and one U-Joint at 170,000. Other than normal stuff like belts, batteries, brakes, and fluids I've done nothing else to it.

 

2005 with 145k. Ac compressor went out at 125k. Blower motor and resistor and my power steering pump was just replace not because it had failed but it was leaking a little. I replaced a hub assembly a few years ago. All in all not bad for almost 16 years of ownership. Ohh and it still runs like a clock.......and also ticks like one as well. I do have a question about you guys that replaced your engine. Where and how was that total process including cost and time involved? Thanks

 

Ford never built a truck better than a Toyota , never will

 

I had a 2008 Tacoma 4 cylinder manual work truck with 350,000 miles before I traded in for a 2016. The only parts that I replaced was a bad fuel pump, starter, and an alternator. My 2016 work truck now have over 130,000 miles and no issues whatsoever. Before that I had a 2005 Ford Ranger. It’s spend more time in the garage repair shop than on the road.

 

2009 with 353,000 on it. I drive it without a worry and I've had zero mechanical problems with it. It's pretty much stock except for billies in the front and 265's. Regular maintenance is the key. No leaks, no check engine light. It acted weird once, I cleaned the throttle.body and maf sensor and never did it again.

 

SoCal truck. I was pretty high mileage driver for a while (95% highway/5% offroad), now I have a beater full size and use the Tacoma as a weekend offroad more like 50/50 highway/offroad. 2009 DCSB SR5 by 4x4 w/ 295,000 miles

Beyond typicall maintenance...

75k: front/rear brakes, battery
140k: LCA's, front/rear shocks (Bilstein 5100s)
200k: CV boots, front/rear brakes
220k: LCA's, front/rear shocks (went w/ Icons)
240k: battery, rear wheel bearing, rad mounts, AC console lights
275k: front wheel bearings, a/c shrader valve & recharge, carrier bearing, u-joints, front brakes, front/rear shocks (rebuild), front headlight bulbs
295k: body mounts, shifter bulb

I'm probably missing something or off by 5k miles, but this is what I remember from the top of my head.

 

Bought the truck at 62k and now it sits at 205k. Nothing major other than your regular maintenance items. Doesn’t burn any oil, runs and drives the same as when i first got it. Rust free and trouble free. U joints and coolant system flush is next on list.

 

You'll be replacing twice that on a ranger or an F150. Ask me how I know

 

2005 Tacoma V6, bought with 95k and now at 170k

Replaced:
Both front wheel bearings
Intermediate steering shaft
Blower motor resistor and harness pigtail
Center console lid
All idiler pulleys and tensioner
Rubber brake lines
CV axle due to boot ripping

Basic maintenance, brake pads, plugs, fluids, etc.

 

We’ve got a lot of Ford vans and on the past Ford trucks that get hammered everyday. A lot of idle time and slow speed driving around the airport. They keep on going.

 

Having owned 3 Rangers (95-97), I can assure you that's a bad plan! I probably spent more time under them than driving them. Ford likes to make really stupid design decisions that make working on them 10x harder than any other vehicle I've ever worked on. Plus, it often took me at least two tries to get any repair done right, and some new problem would always pop up shortly afterward. There's a reason those trucks are so much cheaper than the competition in the resale market!

 

I don’t think I really need to tell you why referring to a 1995 model when discussing a 2020 model is kind of silly, do I?

 

All of the Fords in our fleet are honestly having way too many issues that I'd ever consider one. They're either vans/sedans/SUV, but still.


Anyway, for the OP; you should ask this question in the "stock trucks" thread. I think too many people w/ modded trucks are going to skew the answers you're looking for. Unless you plan to buy a modded truck.
Most of mine was preemptively replaced so not fair to say. I think the biggest non-wear item is the steering rack that is waiting to be replaced. Have a new one here, just no time yet. I'm at 155k fwiw. Other than that, it's been self inflicted or an aftermarket part that needed replacing or rebuilding.

 

2010 - 111k miles. Besides brakes, oil, and normal maintenance things; the only thing I needed to "do" was got a new frame. I havent had to replace any door lock actuators or other items **knock on wood**

 

Mine was nearly perfect until 200k then all my problems seemed to hit at once

 

2007 TRD OR, 213k miles.

-Full brake job, drive shaft carrier bearing and all U-joints at 170k
-New OEM steering rack at 200k, turns out the old one was just fine!
-ECGS clamshell bushing for the hell of it at 200k
-clutch at 120k with URD throw out bearing kit.

The truck is simply amazing. Just needs oil changes, do a coolant flush every 100k. The engine purrs quieter than my 2021 with 1200 miles. Selling the ‘07, sad to see it go.

 

Almost at 150K over here on my 07 and all I've done is basic maintenance (brakes plugs fluids) only "major" thing I had to do was replace my alternator which recently died on me.
