I had slotted StopTech rotors on my 1st gen for several years and never had any issues. Drilled is what you don't want as they offer minimal cooling benefit with maximum risk of stress fractures/cracking.

Loose sand/gravel, mud.. I imagine could get up in my drilled holes. Nobody likes sand in their holes. I just think it could be a potential issue with how/where I take the truck.

You'll be fine with slotted. Still no where near as bad as drums getting packed full of silt, that has no was of leaving, without disassembly.

Either manufacturer, you'll be happy with.

What you want to consider, from monetary standpoint, is that the rotors are one piece. If that is an option. Two piece, are MUCH more expensive.

i would be curious about dust sheild mod differences. stoptech seemed like a pita. maybe im not well informed.

i swapped the 4-runner/ gx front rotors and calipers off the older v-8 model with the factory dust shield. using those dust shield may be a better option for the larger rotor size.

I don't have my dust shields anymore. Took em off a long time ago when I was replacing wheel bearings. I can't remember why.. maybe I forgot to put em back on and said screw it. :notsure:

The Wilwood kit can actually be had for less than the StopTech kit.. Wilwood is 2 piece rotors.. StopTech is 1 piece. Wilwood has slotted. StopTech has plain and slotted options.

Both are good kits. Only reason I went stoptech was they had the 323 kit which allows me to run 16’s. Another thing to consider is which brand has more brake pad options. Also I found it easier to get customer service with SOS Performance than with wilwood. Wilwood was kinda hard to get a hold of

    My shit is all stock.
I’d research how much replacement parts cost for each kit. Rotors and pads most importantly. Someone above mentioned pad compounds as well. I’m betting Wilwood has more options there.

I did this recently for the stoptechs since I needed replacements....and also because I'm frugal. :p

Pads for the stoptech st-60 calipers ranged from $90-$400 (pair) depending on compound. I scored a set of Hawk HP+ pads for $70.

340mm(338mm) 1pc rotors ranged from $50-200+ each depending on options. I believe the rotors in the sos 340mmx32mm kit is the application for the newer GX and T4R. Prices are all over the place depending on brand and options. Search for replacement rotors for the new GX/T4R to get an idea.

The above info (prices) is off the top of my head.... and I dont know jack about wilwood pricing. I have my replacement brake parts in hand. Fingers crossed that my researched parts will fit and be a direct replacement for what SOS provided.

Mine are 2 pc rotors. I kept the boxes for both the rotors and pads for future reference on replacement. The name may demand a higher price but it’s ok, I knew what I was getting into. I’ve read good reviews on the life and wear of them and I’m sure they will last for me. Different uses like off-roading my shorten it I’m sure .
