It's metal. Metals is a great conductor of heat. Or lack of it in your case.

Yeah I tried to find filters. Company is out of business, it's sat stale for some time. It was good in its prime I'm sure. But having a system that backwashes without having to replace filters is better. I sent in a sample to get the water tested. It's a little hard but not terrible

Here is the retaining wall I had installed about a month ago. Its a little over 6 foot tall and about 70 feet wide.

    working on it... :-)
Got a new baby kitten that some heartless A-hole dumped on our property in below-freezing conditions. Anyhow, he's all kinds of awesome... but it turns out that he also had ringworm - and our brilliant vet NEVER bothered to check - until everyone and everything in our home was infested with the stubborn fungus.

Bottom line: we have to quarantine all of our animals for a month while they are being treated with internal meds and being bathed twice a week in prescription shampoo. To accomplish this isolation, I had to to figure out a way to wall off a large section of our poured cement wall basement. First we had to empty the desired area of EVERYTHING. Then I hit floor & walls with Kilz primer-sealer. Then purchased a stack of 1/4" subflooring to knock out quick & dirty walls. (They didn't have to be bomb-proof. Just dog & cat-proof. LOL)

We also had to enclose our basement stairs to complete the 4th wall, then I had to confabulate a door tall enough to keep everyone from jumping over/out. I was able to knock this out in about 4 days - a lot of it, thankfully, using scrap lumber I've squirreled & stored for years. Now, while the critters are all corralled downstairs, we have to 100% disinfect the upstairs: washing EVERY SINGLE item of clothing, ALL bedding & towels, shampoo/steam clean ALL rugs and upholstered furniture... then hit walls and hardwood/uncarpeted floors with a diluted bleach solution to insure destruction of the fungus. Unlike many things you encounter in your life, the body does NOT build up a resistance or immunity to the fungus. If it isn't killed completely it can re-infect someone or something... and the whole cycle starts all over again. :-(

This has been a nightmare and what grinds my gears the most is that if the vet had simply checked the kitten with a UV light (fungus glows green) they would have known or strongly suspected Tinea/ringworm and we could have caged the little fella until he had been cured - without all the other headache. Makes my want to strangle the vet with a spare leash. 30 second inspection with a UV light would've spared us from this. Had I known I would've checked myself, but in all the years of owning pets (90% of which were dumped or were rescue animals), I have NEVER had one with ringworm, so It never occurred to me. We now have a portable UV light and will regularly check - to play it safe.

Word to the wise folks. If you find a pet or take in a rescue animal, have it checked for ringworm!!! If your vet can't - for whatever reason - do it yourself.

...^^^... Kudos to you for saving the cat.

When I was a kid with a newspaper home delivering route ... I found a stray & starving male kitten. It could barely walk and was cold in the summer. My grandmother had that house cat for over 20 years. The funny thing was ... I named the cat "WINEO" because my grandparents hated any kind of alcohol. :)

So ... years later when my grandmother would take the cat to the vet ... the lady would come into the vet waiting room and ask for "WINEO" ... and my poor grandmother would wilt. She became a good sport about it later.

I would have done it for $25000, they would’ve been here and done in 2 weeks.

Add in the cost of the gravel, that’s more than we paid for the house

The contractor told me “it’s not as bad as you think for materials and installation, but you’re gonna crap your pants on the cost of gravel”

I checked prices via the Internet for my area, it was showing only $15000 for 570 tons of crusher run
I’m gonna talk to him again on Friday
