So it's speced out just as Bob in accounting would order it if he won the lotto. He won't go for the Pro because hip issues and the extra half inch of lift is just too much. I don't see why we're surprised at the price? Most people wouldn't order with all the boxes checked.

On a different note people buy base trucks and proceed to spend thousands on upgrades and can't figure out why it's so hard to recoup the money when the wife Barbara get knocked up.

 

I’ve owned two tacos in my lifetime. First was a 08 TRD sport 4x4 with 6’ bed. 28k out the door. Second was a 17 TRD OR 4x4 with 5’ bed. Had everything except jbl charge. 35 OTD. Recently sold it and was thinking maybe a tundra. For what you get I can’t see paying a premium anymore. I went a different route, better priced and way more bang for my buck.

Toyota is smart at marketing. They make enough trucks to meet the demand at a premium price without flooding the market. As long as people will buy high they will always sell high.

 

They will keep jacking the prices even higher if people are willing to pay and when it comes to buying Tacomas all I ever see is

 

The way the used tacoma market is going I feel like they can justify charging more. You either get a 2018 used tacoma for 33k, or you can buy a new tacoma for 43k...

 

My new 2nd gen base model (2wd, 4cyl, 5MT, reg-cab w/AC) was $14,500 in 2005.

 

So dig this ... I brought my truck in for its 20,000 mile Toyota care maintenance last week. While I was waiting for it I walked around the lot. In the certified used car section I saw TRD Sport DCLB That looked exactly like my truck. So I went over and checked it out and it was optioned exactly like my truck. I mean they could have been twins. The only difference, the one for sale (for $36,988 US)was a 2018 with 22,000 miles on it while mine is a 2019 with 21,000 miles on it. I drove mine out the door 53 weeks ago -new, at the very same dealer for a couple hundred dollars less.

 

Supply and demand.

 

Thanks to family member dealer pricing, I got mine new at $33.8K.
It's killing me seeing what they're increasing to, because I will also not be selling mine.

 

Sorry to be part of the problem. I bought a fully loaded 21 TRD OR for $53k (seemed very high for a mid size but I figured it was mark up due to shortages). Had a 4runner trade in. Got way more than expected due to covid prices. I love it and I’ll keep it until it dies as a daily. Needed something reliable next to the gtr

 

Fucking same here, I got mine right around $34,000. The dealer offered me $44,XXX a couple of days ago and I just won't be doing it

I got a loaded with auto drive options etc full size with better fuel economy towing and seating with off road package for $2000 less than the OP priced out for a brand new truck! Wtf is going on???

 

You added all that extra crap (the accessories), of course it will be over $50,000.

 

When I ordered my 21' Cement TRD OR DCSB back in February the way I wanted it cost me $44,000. I did get it in 3 weeks but man, sticker shock was an under statement. It's all supply and demand for these trucks. My trade in was a 18' SR5 DCSB and it sold in 1 week for $39,000

 

That's $5K over Pro MSRP pricing.
Again...Geez....

 

It’s not. I just build one without all the accessories and it’s $43,005. My Starting MSRP is even higher where I live for me. I even added the most expensive premium package on mine.

 

I feel like over the years prices of vehicles have gone up in a similar fashion to how housing has increased and people’s salaries have remained relatively the same.
