Deferring to my previous buy once cry once statement: sell this and just get a tube chassis haha

I've seen where they are, lots of $'s ride on those carts each time they're loaded up haha

I have a perfectly good 1st gen extra cab "cab" sitting in my yard I want to get rid of, but have been too lazy to do anything about, if you're looking to start collecting parts?

I was thinking about it today and whats like the "ultimate" SUA setup out there? i know Tim's got a nice kit at dmz but its still limited at what just over 16" of travel? i was originally planning to chop the back half of my truck off and 4 link and build my short bed into a long bed. But now i'm kinda tired of tearing my truck down for 3 months at a time. Because of my Job i get like a month off in summer and then like 4 months in winter. So not being able to drive my truck for most my time home is getting annoying....even though i really do love working on it i just would like to drive it....lol. My other option im looking at is getting Steve from dirt designs 3 link kit since i can keep the stock tank and only really would need to build a bed cage and can get closer to 22" of rear travel. Just trying to bounce some ideas around. thanks.

    3 link > any sua

Check out @taco_sos on IG - he has stuff on here too where he installed a RuffStuff 3 link.

Best SUA? Unfortunately nearly all dudes saying their kit "pulls 20" of travel" aren't posting videos of their kits cycling and performing with an actual shock tune. DK, DMZ, JD Fab, seem like most legit candidates with DMZ having the largest evidence of testing and performance over the years, but Boosted (Boostie?) Beef on IG has a well set up DK kit too.

Agreed, I think links are probably the best option if you are willing to toss down the coin. The adjustability/flexibility of coilovers seems like a big advantage to me, but I'm usually also carrying a bit more variable bedweight. the DD 3-link has the most appeal to me for "entry-level" [aka not moving your tank/building a legit cage] linked kits.

I also have no hands on time with any of them though, so anyone can feel free to correct me.

The price difference isn't huge if you are fabricating everything from a kit like Ruff Stuff.

I’m getting JD fab’s kit. It’s 17”-19” of travel depending on if you notch the frame and every thing is bolt on except the shock mounts and the spring perch. It also is adjustable with ride height and spring rate. I ordered same shocks in the picture king 3.0 triple bypasses with anodized reservoirs.

DMZ is for sure the most tested and well respected.

Camburg had a somewhat newer kit that hasn’t been run on many trucks that I’ve seen, but I think they boast a few more inches of travel.

Giant’s kit has big numbers but I’ve heard e geometry is whacky or it’s got issues.

Dirt king has a new kit that notches the frame, says like 19” of travel but I’ve yet to see it really in action. That said they make good stuff.

I forget the company but a other company recently finished a kit that pairs with their cantilever system and boasts 19+ inches of travel. Again not much real word usage that I’ve seen.

Dirt designs would be my personal choice of money isn’t an issue. All the travel and the benefits of links.

there’s more custom and smaller shop kits as well

    I don't know Steve's price, I meant SUA kit vs Ruff Stuff's 3 link.

I wanna say someone on here was saying around 4-5 for pretty much everything minus coils. I was originally selling myself on full like 55" canoe lower links and full custom prerunner style bed and all but the amount of energy expended vs getting steve's kit seems almost not worth it for my use i think. I guess what i'm wondering really is if i 3 link with Dirt Designs kit is it unreasonable to maybe easily make some changes in maybe swaybar or something and go for like a long drive? i just don't wanna get myself into this thing and then have to trailer it everywhere.

You could link a truck using ruffstuff brackets and URC links for less than 1500 bucks, then coilovers run 12-1400 bucks, bed cage can be built for 200$ in tube
