EPA Highway MPG Criteria Test: 26.5 mpg

Impressive mpg but dang....CA gas prices are absurd. Also what app are you using?

 

On my current tank, I filled up, turned onto a two lane road and followed a semi at 55 mph for 20 miles to see what is below. I then turned onto an interstate to drive 75 mph and it went to the 17s which is where it's usually at.

 

I’m using Fuelly, but just the hand-entered version.

Yeah, CA gas prices are nuts, even when you account for the special refinery costs. At least is not as expensive as in England or Europe.

 

You think CA prices are nuts? Here in good ol' Surrey BC, i pay about $1.60 per liter for 91 octane , about $6.04CAN per US gallon. Regular is about 1.29$ per liter so about $4.87CAN per US gallon. Good thing I drive my taco on weekends or vacation days only.

 

Just finished a 600 mile round trip. I5 in California. New 2021 offroad. Flat/Straight the whole way and got 16mpg each way. Granted I did 80mph the whole time but thought I'd do better than 16.

California gas prices are already horrible and Im betting they get a lot worse in the next four years.

 

Do you like running 91? Or are you tuned for 91? Here in the bald prairies of Canada, 91 adds only 20-25 cents/litre and most don't have ethanol. Cheaper at Costco, but it's across the city and I don't go there unless I absolutely have to.

 

I have wildpeak 265/79/17 it’s is accurate enough within .5 mpg. I did record about 1k mile.

 

Im tuned now, but I have always used 91 E0 after dealer's fill ran out. My truck sits 5 days a week so i did not want the corn juice. If we had 87 E0 then most likely I would have ran that on the stock tune. I only use Shell, been using shell for over 10 years now.

It did feel like truck ran better/smoother on 91 on stock tune, might have been in my head though.

My display shows +/- .2-.3 mpg versus my hand calculations, its pretty accurate. Im on 265/70/17

 

I did similar thing one time, was going no faster than 60 for about an hour and a half on this highway and got 24.75 mpgs. I had E loads and it was summer time. I was pretty impressed, best MPGs I have ever got.

 

The default displays on the dash I did not use. A non default “Average Fuel Economy” has to be selected from the “settings.” This one you can reset on the fly and it simply uses miles traveled & gas burned.

Damn. You guys get great gas mileage. I get maybe 16 MPG on a good day driving 75 mph on the freeway. My last tank was 15.6. I have no lift, stock sized 265/65/17s on lightweight Revo 3s with 30 psi. I even have that stupid air dam in place.

 

Dyno is biggest.

 

75mph is a gas eater on my truck.

Do you have additional issues you want to discuss?

And considering they used dyno in a closed windless environment my truck performed better. That was the point of my post.

Real world conditions vs Lab ideal conditions and I got better performance.
