So I Have A lifted 2016 Tacoma an been wanting to change out front axles wheel hub assembly... I’ve ordered the parts already have it on hand.. I just got my 8”clamshell bushing for driver side in today but most of my problems an noises are on my the passenger side...

so my question is can I use the
8”clamshell bearing on the passenger side?? Or it’s only made for the left side only??

What noises are you hearing on the passenger side?

The “clam shell bushing” you’re talking about is the one that replaces the driver side factory needle bearing?

I’m hearing a humming sound most definitely it’s the wheel bearing.. an also Rattling noise sounds like somethings bouncing around somewhere in that area... it’s not a broken stud I know that for sure.. i can hear it when I’m slowing dwn to a complete stop..

Yeah it’s probably the wheel bearing. You said you changing both side wheel bearings anyway so wouldn’t hurt to start there and see how the thing changes or stays the same.

So the passenger side if I’m not mistaken I have to take out C clip holding in the bearing?? Then press the bearing out after that??

The bearing above is passenger side and your ECGS clamshell bushing drivers side (that replaces a weaker needle/roller bearing drivers side) go into the front diff housing to support the inner end of the CVs. CVs go in secured by the CV axle attached clip that comes out/goes in attached to CV. After you pull the CVs out a puller is used to remove those housing bearings and get new oil seals as you may mangle them - up to you but cheap and already will be in there.

The wheel hub or bearing is the one piece assembly that the outboard spline of the CV goes thru and has a big nut to hold on all bolted to the steering knuckle.

Many videos [posted on all of this.

Wheel bearing you won’t be taking out. You said you have new hub assemblies so when you remove the hub you just bolt in the new hub you bought.

the ECGS bushing you have to take out the CV axle from the drivers side of the differential and then remove the needle bearing and replace with the new bushing.

Ive never heard of guys replacing the passenger side bearing but I’m sure people do it. Probably a similar process to the driver side
