I only get about 17-18mpg. Mostly highway miles, but this is through Seattle, so traffic is a constant. I keep rpms under 2K and running everything stock. 265/65/17 MS2's. I would think I could get 20, but that is not the case.

I got 13 mpg out of a 199 mile stretch on a hilly stretch of interstate near st Louis doing 83 mph with a 20 mph crosswind on a 20 degree Fahrenheit day with 2 mountain bike in bed and 1 large passenger. Sometimes I get 20 mpgs. But to answer the original question posed in 2008...............NO!

    I got 20 MPG ONCE on 21 fill-ups.

As it seems here, by my experiences, it is probably possible to get constant 20 MPG average, if the temperatures are warm or hot, and you don't go over 65MPH on highway while driving gently in the city.

Though, with the colder temps here, even with a steady 60MPH on hightway and a excessively gently driving in city, it is not possible to get 20 MPG because of warm-ups of the engine, and overall colder temps (lower mpg, gas vaporises slower in colder temps). According to the scangauge, warm-ups, even when driving the truck, really drive the average MPG sky high.

Conclusion: If I lived in a hotter climate, it would really be possible to get 20 MPG with the 4X4 automatic, but my average as it is is approx 18MPG.

Here in Arizona I get a constant 20-20.5 mpg no need to warm anything up.:tumbleweed:

I consistently get 20.6. Just coming up on 5k miles. Not bad for a 4x4 V6.

Wilson Wy to Salt Lake City yesterday I got 21.? on the way down and 21.22 on the way back. Temps were unseasonably in the high 30's to mid 40's. Access can LB 4x4 v6 riding solo with not much extra weight. Averaged 65-70 for most of the way. May be all in my head, but shell or specially Chevron 91 gets me the best mileage and smoothest performance.
Oh yeah, got the job I was after as well!!!:D

I have a '06 DC 4x4 TRD that is totally stock w/ the exception of a K&N air filter. I get anywhere from 19.5 to 20.5 on the highway. The key for my truck seems to be to keep RPMs below 2k. My milage takes a hit in town. Overall I averages aroung 18.25-20.1 week in, week out. Would like for it to be better, but it is a 4x4 truck.....hope that helps

PA turnpike, Highway cruising from I476 to Cabela's, 60-65 both ways I get 21-22 round trip. Have done it several times.

I have gotten 24...once...when using some hypermiling tricks and not exceeding 60.

Then I put on the 265's and gave up trying. Now I do 19-20 most times and around town 17-18 or so. Still better than my old 3.2L Rodeo...but I got 25 once with it, flying before a huge wind along I40 in western Oklahoma.

Incidentally, this is NOT scanguage MPG's. This is fillup to fillup averages using odometer mileage, GPS adjusted for error because of tires.

Update, now that I've added an additional 7600 miles to the odometer. I've broken 20 twice, but just barely (20.1 and 20.2). I've gotten 19+ multiple times. Overall average for all tanks is 18.9 mpgs

My 09 DC (Prerunner/OR/auto/stock tires) is pretty consistently right at 20 mpg on the highway, running between 72-75 mph on cruise. Never any higher than 20.5, a couple tanks have been in the 19.5 range...

I do have an Undercover tonneau, have no idea if it makes a difference as I haven't tried without it.

    .
2007 dblcb 4x4, yeah i knew the MPG wasnt going to be great, it's the nature of the beast. last trip to Idaho to oregon and then home was aroung 17 mpg, before i put the cat-backs and K&N on, if it's going to save me any gas, it's the right foot, period. i've changed the way i drive the truck to reflect the changes, less is more, i need less throttle for the same horsepower. it seems to me that if you make it easier for the engine to breath, then it will use more gas to move the 5000lbs, easy on the throttle, take a little more time to get up to speed then cruise it. that's my .02$

    Too few to list.
When I took a 900 mile drive to OR, I was getting a little over 20 miles to a gallon hwy. 20.8 to be exact with a 4x4 6speed driving at 65mpg with 3 other passengers and about 300lb payload. Average city/hwy was about 17.5 (50/50).

If everyone joined Fuelly.com they could be showing there average mileage with each post!

I topped the tank today and my around town/ highway combined mileage for this tank was 17.0. The most I have ever got is 19.2 pure highway on Mexican gasoline.

Haven't seen the other/plus side of 17mpg since that trip across New Brunswick back in June. 15-17mpg all summer. Now that it's 15F outside, have the Winterforce tires on, and *all* the gas is 10% ethanol around here, I've been getting 13-15mpg.

that's measured by the tank.....no instantaneous measurements.

To answer your question for my truck "No", but I did wait until I filled up last night to reply. My last tank full was mostly highway, empty & driving conservatively & got a 19.4 avg' mpg.
W/ that said we know not all the trucks out there are the same so I am wondering how my compares to say another 4dr, 4X4 w/ the towing pkg. I do not know for sure but would guess that towing package equipped trucks may have a lower axle ratio & if so not a "apples & apples" comparison to a 2X2 A/C truck.
I am highly interested in proven suggestions to improve the mpg especially w/ almost $3/gallon @ the pump. So far the only improvement I have done is run a synthetic as I do in all my vehicles, Amsoil 5W30 in this case. Open to ideas & thanks.

    Rob.
