Well it has come time for my last bumper I made to be replaced. I am already almost done with the build and has come along great. Just basically making a new bumper with everything I wish I had done with my first. Ya know things like thicker pipe, narrower and silver skid plate, more ground clearance, and better welds and mounted better. I actually cut a good amount of the front end of the frame without losing durability to give the bumper more of an angle and to gain ground clearance. I only have two more pieces already cut and bent that just need to be welded on and then shell be ready for paint.IMG_5355.HEIC.jpgThis was the old bumper just as I finished it

Main pipe welded on. Also to be clear this pipe is welded onto a homemade bracket and bolted in with the pre existing holes in the front end of the frame.

Theres the frontend with the skid plate attached.

Heres the bottom section of the bumper with a second skid plate below. The bumper is set up as two main pieces, a bottom and a top. It is easier to bolt on the bottom first and then the top with help holding it. Then the main skid plate bolts in to 2 pieces of angle iron at the top and the bottom connecting the top and bottom pieces.

Let me know what you guys think. It is low budget because I am a college student and I am still new to welding so its not perfect but its study and looks aggressive like I like. It's all for looks as well. Im not racing this truck or taking it out to the dunes. Just something that's fun to drive.

Thanks for the opinion. I just had them laying around with some extra wiring and figured I’d put them on just for the hell of it. I do a lot of backroad driving so at night i just flip those and my ditch lights on instead of my brights.

You must have a good pipe bending machine... I do a lot of welding at work, and decided I was going to build a sweet headache rack for my road warrior regular cab '06 that secured into the bedrails.. Asked my boss if I could pull the pipe bender out of the back of his shop and he says sure! It's a 25 year old hydraulic bender- basically a car jack with rounded attachments. No gauge, no way to measure, and it bends them vertically so if you're bending more than 6 feet of pipe, it starts to lift itself up off the ground.

I tried, I really did. Ended up scrapping a bunch of schedule 80 pipe. Then I bought a super clean '13 and scrapped the idea.

That armor looks really good dude. I'm getting somewhat fired up again to fabricate things for the truck. Damn you.

Honestly man my pipe bender is just a 99 dollar tool from harbor freight that sounds similar to the one you have. I found it easier to raise the jack until it’s pressed up against and not going anywhere and then laying it on its side so i can get a cleaner bend. It just took time to get it rights and symmetrical.
