Roof basket on directly Canopy

Hi all... New owner of an old taco...

Would like to mount a basket directly on top of the canopy (with rubber stops) rather than to a roof rack system... as shown in pics . Anyone done this? Any problems?

I don't like the extra height when it's mounted to racks.

 

There’s probably no reason you couldn’t do it if you properly sealed it. If it were me I would mount a track system and get T slot mounts inside the tracks to mount the basket to. That way if you ever decide to run a roof rack you have options

Would work if sealed and use a large fender type washer inside.
Most ACE Hardwares have plastic/nylon type spacers that would be a more stable base- find them in their parts drawers.

 

For sure about money.. rhino rack sells tracks for 110 specific to toppers.
