Ever wonder why the remaining primarchs dove into the Maelstrom to fight chaos? They had an inside guy... or two.

 

And the entire DA legion is compromised. But after the heresy, almost all of the imperium was compromised except for the navigators and mechanicum.

I'd love to hear your thoughts on how the mechanicum didn't really react to the emperor slaying the dragon of Mars (shard of a C'Tan) and becoming their surrogate machine god.

 

Oh really? I'm gonna need to brush up on my lore. Last time I read up the lore Robot Girlyman is alive and the acting Emperor to an extent and he's having some fun with a hot Eldar

Oh, I mean how the emperor pre-crusade went to mars first and killed the mechanicum's god and stole his metal and machine manipulation powers (read up on the dragon of mars and the shards of the C'tan). It's the same thing that Vulkan has, but Emperor scale.

You do know that the Cult Mechanicus was an entirely different governing body than the Imperium until the emperor showed that he was the Omnissiah after her killed their god without them knowing... right?

 

I do know that the mechanicus was it's own government. I vaguely remember reading about the dragon of Mars. My God how much have I forgotten

 

There is so much now. Aside from outdated random bits of lore from White Dwarf, the realm is super contiguous and the history is filled in with really good lore and books. Pluuuuuus, they started doing audiobooks a few years ago. PM for recs if you want.
