Troubleshooting the headlights on my 2013 tacoma. No lights on the passenger side, replaced low beam bulb, still no light.. I'm getting 12.5 vdc at the plug, which is confounding me... seems if I have voltage, I should have light. I get slightly more voltage on the driver's side, maybe .2 or .3 vdc more. I mean, what else is there? I tested all the 10a fuses with my meter, all good. Then there's the relay... It's clicking, so the coil is getting energized. Could it affect one side and not the other?

If you replaced the bulb (which by BTW is both high and low beam) and have voltage at the socket, the next area I would check is the ground. I would also verify that the "new" bulb is actually good too. Just do a continuity test on both filaments.

Fuse 15 and 17 under the hood control that headlight.

I think I have an aftermarket headlight assembly, as there are different bulbs for high and low. The power goes to a plug with three terminals, and then splits to each bulb. There's some sort of short between all three terminals. I'm not reading the same thing on the driver's side.

The difference in the 12.5 & 12.7or 12.8 is not the problem. From what I understand something sounds rigged, I'd check that stuff is all done properly. Just my opinion.

Aftermarket headlights. Say no more. Unfortunately, unless you're real good with troubleshooting using a DVM, you're probably SOL. Good luck!

    PS: I'd still check grounding.

I’m taking it to my local mechanic. I know my limits.

You said you had power there but did you check your ground?

Ah the joys of aftermarket cheap Chinese crap.

    You gotta love it.

    Nothing wrong with that.
It’s always good to know your limit.

There’s been more than a few times I didn’t know my limits.

Let’s just say, I’ll never attempt to drywall a ceiling ever again.
Now I know why popcorn ceiling exists.

It actually looks like a nice unit, it's got these LED strips on top and bottom, very attractive. It might be a case of the installation rather than the product. Regardless, I'm not going to sweat about it other than pay a few bucks for someone else to fix it.
