Hey everyone I saw a similar post and having the same problem. I installed new LED tail lights and 3rd light. ABS light came on. The code is c1249 and “open circuit in stop light switch” Should I be concerned? How can I fix this?

I don’t think your ABS or cruise control will work if the light is on?

It may have to do with the resistance of the LED lights?

    Maybe @Muddinfun will know?

    none yet
quick test is to put the original bulbs in
if the originals work/no error light you need to find better LEDs that don't trigger the error light

Is it just that the light is on or is the ABS not going to function at all?

I have LEDs in everything except the headlights and fog lights and they are exceptionally bright, instant on, and I don't have a bit of problems.

    I guess my question is,

If the tail lights don’t have resistors, would this cause the truck to think there is an open in the tail light circuit?

Could this be the cause of his problem?

There is a little box on the tail light not sure if it’s a resistor or not. I’m sorta mechanically inclined but electrical not so much. I bought the tail lights on eBay for $115 a set. So they aren’t exactly high end. Came from China. Where the bulb is supposed to be, it had a connection that goes there to power the LEDs. That’s when the ABS light came on. So I assume if I put the bulbs back the ABS light will shut off. My questions are since the ABS light is on, does it mean the ABS function on my truck is no longer working? How important is ABS? I mean the check engine light comes on occasionally and goes off. It’s the O2 sensor. So how important is it or is it a light on my dash that I can just deal with. Thanks guys for all the help

Some LED's will do this because of their circuit design, instead of using 2 separate circuits connected to a common ground like an incandescent bulb many LED's with dual functions use single bulb(s) with the tail (dim) light function going through a resistor and the stop/turn (bright) function directly connected but the resistor is bridging the circuits at all times which causes issues with some vehicles depending on the circuit design of the vehicle.
If the ABS light is on with a code stored then the ABS system is disabled, your brakes will still work fine but you won't have ABS.
