I let it idle for about 15 minutes, pulled the check bolt and felt the fluid. It was a bit warmer than the average hot tub. I put in 5 quarts expecting it to be about a 1/2 over and I had that correct. About 1/2 a quart drained before it turned into a trickle.

Alright , we know the transmission has enough fluid which is good . Hot or cold only means about 1/8 of an inch
The issue at hand is the noise he hears and I am assuming it may be a stuck valve in the valve body .
I am going to recommend a shot of Lubeguard like I always do .
OP , order this up and dump the bottle into your transmission . Its going to help free up any stuck valves .

Don’t give up on the proper technique with the temp check light. Your probably pretty close but that’s just guessing. A lot of people have problems at first. Try it again in the morning.

Should I go with a single 10oz bottle in there? And the tranny was shifting and getting up to speed no problem with the while earlier. Just sounds terrible and concerns me about it causing further issues. I was thinking maybe it was the transmission fluid pump at first but that makes sense about a valve being stuck. Ill give that stuff a shot.

Yes most definitely will get on it first thing in the am. Once I get the starting issue figured out that is

Its not uncommon for a transmission to be a little noisy after a fluid change .
I think you changed all the fluid out , not 1/2 of the old fluid but all of it ?
Your original fluid worked hard all its life placing sediment in the bottom of the pan .
When you do a transmission service to an older transmission , you introduce new fluid with a very very high detergent content into a transmission that was operating with old depleted fluid .All the detergents in your old fluid were worn out .
Chances are , the new fluid that has fresh detergents grabbed some debris and forced the debris into the valve body . I know you tried your best by removing the pan and cleaning everything , but this can happen .
The lubeguard will assist to work that debris out of your pressure regulator .
Its good stuff . 1 - ten ounce bottle will work fine .

Sweet I appreciate the info. Ill give that stuff a shot and hopefully that will do the trick. Could a valve cause such a high pitched whine?

Yes sir . When the pressure regulator valve gets stuck , it will whine like a pig .
I am not positive you followed the proper procedure for servicing the transmission .
It sorta sounds like you may have flushed first and then dropped the transmission pan ?
Correct me if i am wrong ?
Pan should always be dropped first , clean the bottom of the pan , clean the magnets , replace the filter .
Once the pan is removed , you determine if you can flush by the contamination content on the magnets , in the filter and laying in the pan . If the magnets are full of metal , the pan has debris as well as the filter , do not flush . Just re-fill the pan
If you did this properly , you just got unlucky and some debris contaminated your valve body

Ok....I get it. I had the same problems getting the truck into the Check mode.

    Follow the procedure.
A few details.....tranny pan buttoned up, fluid in, engine running.......obvious.
First cycle the tranny into all gear selections for a few moments.
    Now, begin procedure.
Each shift N-D is 1 shift, D-N is 2nd.......when 6th shift, place into park, engine idling. This is where the procedure says the A/T light will come on for a couple seconds.....mine didn't, I decided wait it out. Sure enough, after about 15 minutes the A/T light flickered.....another minute or so, the A/T came on solid. Push the E-brake ON, leave tranny in Park, engine idling, check fluid level.

Can't say about your noise.......I'd suggest to go thru the Temp Check process again to verify tranny is full.

Did you change the filter while you were in the tranny?

I need to check the fluid level again today but I've got an update on the noise and why the truck wouldn't start. Turns out it was the alternator. I got it running this morning after jumping it but it wouldn't seem to stay on at all. Checked all fuses all were good. I pin pointed the loud whine to the alternator. I was thinking it was something in the tranny making that noise because it traveled all over the truck sounding like it was coming from the trans pan. But any who, went and picked up a new alternator this morning, put it in and it fired right up with not a single whine. So glad it was nothing serious going on there. I really do appreciate the help with my issues folks, I was internally freaking out hahaha

    Yup .

An alternator issue is better than having transmission troubles $$$$$$
    Glad you found the problem
