    Much appreciated

I used to read voraciously, but have really fallen off in recent years. Making it a goal this year to get back into it

I have Audible credits to use. Going along with the earlier discussion, been considering getting into Warhammer 40k. What's a good place to start?

If you want to start at the "beginning," Horus Rising is a good place. Otherwise, there are pretty good books for all the factions, chaos, eldar, astartes, mechanicum... By now, pretty much anybody you can imagine has had a few books written about them. Except Orks and Necrons, they show up a lot less often because they are hard races to create meaningful characters from.

Yo, that's the earlier alternate secondary beginning.

What's the first? I thought the Unification Wars was the only beginning. Uniting Terra under one rule with the use of the Thunder Warriors and the "relieving" them of duty shortly after

There is a strong body of evidence that before the Unification Wars and even before the Age of Strife during the Age of Terra (1- 14,999A.D possibly earlier in the B.C. era but I'm going off of whisps and fumes from multiple bodies of work already), the Emperor of Mankind was a member/agent of the Cabal or was at odds with them via other perpetuals waging war throughout history. He most certainly had something to do with causing the end of the Age of Technology. Whether that is because of the cabal or other perpetual opposing him or his own hubris is hard to tell. But he's not even the only perpetual throughout those eras, he's just the strongest. In addition to that, he most likely didn't come into his full psycher abilities until right before the Age of Strife anyway or he would have dominated earlier. That's when most the pre-Slaanesh warp storms started and isolated Terra from the rest of humanity.

I can also only speculate about the Cabal's intentions for the emperor and other perpetuals on Terra during that time. However, if Earth's perpetuals really were created naturally, I can guarantee that Chaos had something to do with the situation and that the Cabal was trying to nip the natural born human perpetual problem in the bud before humans helped to spawn Slaanesh. Since three of the four chaos gods known to humanity came into existence during a relatively short time during the middle ages, and the cabal have been fighting Chaos since before humans were humans, they'd definitely be able to spot the Emperor's future influence in the creation of Slaanesh. This also brings up the fact that there are very likely more chaos gods that are either defeated by the cabal (unlikely) or "elsewhere". Especially since the webway predates everything and goes to literally unknowable places (I don't get that either).

The second paragraph is some conjecture on my part, but the evidence is there and multiple authors allude to at least the first part my theory being in Terra's history. And to be honest, I don't entirely know how the Old Ones fit in yet, or if they are part of or the creators of the Cabal. But I know that Eldrad put an end to the organization, if not all of the individuals in it.

Sorry, I'm on the spectrum a bit lol

Sort of. It's hard to say, but I think it's canon now that the Eldar only had the major role in bringing Slannesh about since she was the most recent to become sentient in the warp. All races basically helped a bit to awaken her, but humans really let Slaanesh through the warp with the Emporer's Children succumbing to her six titties. The previous one was Nurgle, but humanity wasn't at a high enough population to really have an impact. However, the Black Death plague was started on Terra due to Nurgle becoming sentient. So, it's really sort of important which races are most populated and depraved simultaneously that decides which type of god emerges and when.

It's the intentional mysteries about the II and XI legions that I'm trying to figure out lately. But GW has made sure nobody even considers writing some sort of allusion to them in canon books unless it's "Shhh. We don't talk about that."
Sorry fren. 40k has about 40,000 years of story to work with. Far superior world IMHO :crapstorm:

Not a very deep hole. The canon is "Rember that one time at Nikea when..." "Hush, the Emperor said never to speak of it." "Sorry, you're right"
