Is this Sport worth $2k more than the SR5?

    It sure did!

I actually do not like the push button start, i prefer the good ol' key.

I am probably biased as I have a TRD sport 4x4 DCLB and love it. It is by far the nicest of all the trucks that I have owned - I’ve had four. It rides nice runs smooth and I work my truck. Put 21,000 miles on it in the first year and that includes the 2 1/2 months it sat in my driveway during Covid lockdown.

I have owned an SR5 and a TRD off-road. All my previous trucks have been reliable. But this one is the best riding of all of them.

    Just my .02 cents.

Could probably get the regular hood + closer to $1K .... it cost me in total about $1500 for my OEM hood plus paint match/install. Not enough sport owners want to trade us OR guys for our non scooped hoods!

I think you got it ..mix up...men are attracted by the scoop...hence more SR5 are sold...but if the TRD had a scoop...would this change?
My friend’s 2nd gen...with the lift..his hood scoop ..got in the way..when off roading in tight places...
To bad Toyota did not offer the scoop , as a option for all models?

the new ford bronco’s ..did you see all the options including 35’s...many packages to choose from...will Toyota be able to compete? Against all the choices offer for Bronco’s..
Will the future of Toyota ... let you order online with all the options of your choice?
Burger King does? Lettuce ,Tomato, hold the onion...add one scoop? To go..

I’d say it all depends on if he feels the upgrades the Sport offers over the sr5 are worth it. I chose the sr5 and added wheels/tires, Predator steps, bet mat & interior lighting for about what I’d have paid for the Sport. Just depends on what he values. Fun choice to make.

I'd have a hard time going back to a key. Equate it to going back to an 8-Track. But apparently some like the nostalgia such things bring. :)

What do you not like about the push button start? I was cheesed that it is not available on the MT models. Perhaps I am lucky?

I had a hard time getting used to the push button start thing in the beginning. But now I don’t even think about it anymore. I jump in my truck, I push the four-wheel-drive button it doesn’t start and then I push the start button and off I go. :D

Does your friend have to have LED day time running lights? Or want LED headlights? Other than Transmission choice, on the TRD Sport, and if they specifically want the Sport features. I can't see any reason to buy a Sport over a SR5.

I like the push-to-start :anonymous:. It's nice to grab the drivers handle, hop in, push the button, and go.

I also like my black headliner. It gives a nicer look to the truck.

I like a real key, less likely to get locked out of your Toyota if you carry a physical key versus a keyfob. Push to start is a fun novelty, but the only thing I like about push to start is the availability to add remote start. Even when that feature is only temporary with out the subscription service.

Yeah I don't get the PTS hate either. It's awesome. Of all the reasons to hate the Sport, I don't think PTS is one of them.

Besides, I have electronic locks at my house and haven't carried keys in years thanks to the Lexus key card mod.

The fob has a physical key in it though??? Hell, even my lexus key card has a physical key in it.

And for that matter my wifes has remote start that I added and we pay no subscription service. You are limited to the range of the fob, but it's still remote.

The black headliner is nice. I don't dislike the "cement" seating surface that is on the 21's, but it does look like a square of quilted northern bath tissue. It's also too light of a color for the seating surface of a truck.

Yeah, but I was talking about a standard ignition key.

If remote start works with out the subscription service when the fob is in range of the truck. I have no issue with the remote start feature.

I have a feeling that a majority of hate comes from the key owners that dont drive a PTS daily. When I traded in my bare bones 6MT Ram I was in full curmudgeon mode. "Just a heater and a radio, don't need any of them fru-fru bells and whistles." But after a few days running the PTS in my new Sport I went from thinking that it was a useless gimmick to "Ok, I see what this is about. I can get on board with it."
