I thoroughly enjoy reading the stuff here...the complaints most of all. I know this truck is not perfect - but for me it is absolutely a tremendous value; and I'm shocked at SOME of the threads. As for the soft hands and chapped ass - that hit me hard - LOL. I spend a lot of time on horseback (chapped hands/ass come with this). I have kids in college and have no idea what they are talking about (socially) 90% the time. Heck - I still get my coffee from a gas station for 75-80 cents (when away from home); so I'm in the minority on a lot of things!!!! Some of these complaints are certainly valid - to the consumer - but to me, half the time I'm not sure if they are tongue in cheek or real. I remember one - something about hitting their shins getting in the truck...still not sure if that was real or not.

 

My driver's seat is way too narrow for some reason. Where's the 3rd gen front bench mod?

 

Believe it or not, the shin complaint was real sir.

I tried to duplicate but failed miserably.

 

WOW!!!

If my son came to me and told me he could not get into his truck without hitting his shin...well I can not say; as I'd be arrested.

My $.02. I trade my stuff in every 3 to 4 years... YMMV

1. Had a few Chevy trucks. Got tired of dealer not wanting them back as trade. We already have # on the lot.
2. Had a 2013 Ram Sport, geez, the paint (orange peel) looks like you had an accident. Dash reboots while driving, etc... We don't want it back
All had to call their wholesaler. My trucks are like showroom condition on trade in. Prefer trade in for tax credit in NY

3. 2006, 2010, 2017 (looking for 2021) Toyota's. They work for my needs. Look good. Reliable. Everyone wants them as a trade.

I haven't seen the dealer since my purchase. Can't say I miss the fights with Chevy and Ram dealers on service/warranty. My wife's Subaru's are the same story as the Toyota.

 

My last car was a fully loaded Jetta GLI that got totaled, yes you lose out on some creature comforts in the truck compared to a lot of cars, but things like the grab handle, and someone mentioned no power seats, and the straps for rear seat storage. None of those mean anything to me even coming from a vehicle that had a much higher quality interior finish. The goPro mount as well? How many people use that for serious video work? the second you hit an incline its pointless because you lose all reference points to see how steep it is. The one thing I can agree with that seams cheap is the audio, but then again compared to my first vehicle(jeep cherokee base 97 xj 2wd) it sounds awesome. I may be spoiled by the Fender premium audio that I had in the VW. seat heaters in the Taco are noticeably better than the VW though which is nice.

 

I grew up on Chevrolet trucks starting with my dad’s old C/10 pickup. My dad later purchased a 1998 Chevrolet Silverado Z71 and the transmission went out at relatively low mileage and normal driving conditions. My first truck purchase was a 2000 Chevrolet S-10 and it gave me countless problems. I miss the Chevrolet brand because it meant so much to me while growing up with my father, but I saw him turn enough wrenches to learn Toyota is a more reliable brand.

By the way, my wife picked up a Subaru Outback last year, so I’m pleased with Subaru’s reputation as well.

 

Although less expensive to manufacture, it's my understanding that drum brakes last longer and have more stopping force.

 

When I traded in my 2002 TRD Off Road 4x4 last year, it had well over 200,000 miles on it. With Original rear brakes!

 

Yes to them lasting forever and a day, but no to stopping power. The hotter brakes get, the less they work. And thats the failing of drums. They don't shed heat like discs do.

I once had a bronco with 4 wheel drums. If you wanted that thing to stop at the light you needed to be a time-traveling psychic that started braking an hour ago.

 

Considering they only do about 30 percent of the braking they should last longer, i dont hate drum brakes i was just memeing, although the simplicity of swapping pads and rotors would be nice in the rear.

 

I had a 87 camaro in high school and unfortunately it was the biggest POS i have ever owned, fun car though. I replaced pretty much everything in that car and it still siezed up on me going up the bridge.

My mom's subaru impreza wrx has been trouble free, well except the clutch that needed replacing. My mom revs too much to get going quite often. She is 63 so its ok

Behind right is my buddies 19 OR. My dad has 2 4runners though One is 2003 and the other 2013.

My wife doesnt even drive... she doesnt really want to. It has to change sooner or later.

 

I, like you, grew up in a Chevrolet family. My father never owned anything other. Well, when I was small he did have a Studebaker pick up truck.

As I grew up and left the house I tried to keep up that Legacy. At one point I had five GM vehicles in my garage in driveway. GM with their bull crappy warranty and shotty work did a fine job driving me away. I will never own another GM vehicle. I cannot see my kids ever owning one in the future.
Well, I have one Chevrolet left in my garage. I’ve owned it for almost 28 years and restored it to its numbers matching original. It’s a 69 COPO Camaro.

 

Wow! ‘69 Camaro is a keeper! My dad has a ‘69 Chevelle that desperately needs restoring.

 

I will say I do miss the cannister oil filter setup on the Mercedes diesels I owned ('06, '92, and many in the 70-85 year range).Big filter unit and the cannister housing was great for pouring the 2 gallons of oil into, no mess!

when my wife needs a replacement car I'm totally going with a Toyota prius for her, Tacoma for me.

Had a ‘68 Chevelle - sold it. But yeah, those late 60s early 70s muscle cars are still pretty sweet. Good luck with that ‘69. Hope it eventually gets the TLC that it deserves
