The resale value on the sport is better, I have read that a few times. Looking at residuals, the SR5 has the highest at 78%. Am I missing something then?

(for me I will keep my sr5 10 years). But just for education sense, I would like to know if Sport resale is truly better.

    Thank you

I don't like that opening the door and it shutting off part. It's not the fob dying, it's the looking the fob in the bed under the locked tonneau cover, and how ever else people get locked out of their Tacoma.

I read once that the SR had the highest residual while the Pro had the lowest. It makes sense if you think about it. I honestly don't think residual resale value between models makes that much difference. They all do well.

If you have an updated resale percentage, I'd love to see it.

am Pro grille w/lights, black tailgate letters, black badging, 265-70-17 Duratrac "c", Rear seat platform,
My 17 Sport 4x4 came with factory side steps, hard tonneau, larger Nav screen, push button start, led DRLs, 17" wheels, color matched bumpers and flares, full tow package w/ cooler, and of course the scoop. I think the upgrades were well worth the price difference. Of course I traded in my 2011 Tacoma work truck 4X4, std cab long bed,4cyl, 5spd MTM, and manual EVERYTHING (windows, locks, seats, and no cruise) so the Sport was like stepping up to cadillac for me

Yes, I understand the 2020 & 2021 prices aren't the same. I posted my 2020 price as a reference only. The prices he was quoted for a SR5 & Sport in my opinion are way too high. A 2021 TRD Off-Road with my 2020 options is only gonna cost a few hundred bucks more.

Cheapest 2021 DCLB OR cement 4x4 we found was $37,300

that made it $3,000 more than sr5, and $1,000 more than sport

How is that exclusive to push to start? There's no advantage to a traditional key at this point other than being slightly less complicated and personal preference.

I don't think it's exclusive to push to start. I was going by what people have posted here when locked out of their fob equipped Tacoma.

I have a routine when driving my Tacoma, I always lock my door from the outside with the key, that way I don't lock the key in the truck.

I think she's referring more to dealer quotes than MSRP. The MSRP isn't much different, but with low inventory, dealers are using that to their advantage. It's harder to get dealers to discount as much as they would this time last year.

To be fair, they didn't lock themselves out of the truck. They locked themselves out of their tonneau. That kind of hair-splitting is important. :D

As one of the clumsiest sumbiches around, I can say that the only times Ive been locked out of a car involved one with a physical key. It's a tough trick to leave a fob inside of a locked cab, to the point where it darn near has to be intentional. It isnt easy to do.

Here's a question. How did you lock your tailgate or tonneau cover if you just tossed the key/fob into it? I went snorkeling and did nothing more than toss my fob into my bed with the tonneau cover, but I had to have they physical key in order to lock the tailgate. A lot of times what you hear about people doing things like that are extremely rare circumstances that occur from an absent minded moment. But again, they're not exclusive to having a push button start vehicle. The physical key isn't going away anytime soon. Literally the only difference is the way the vehicle is turned on and off, plus a nice and convenient handle.

The push button start doesn't eliminate that. But the best part is, it won't allow you to lock the truck from the outside if it detects the fob is inside. Plus, you can just touch the handle and lock it and get the same peace of mind as if you had physically locked it.

Ever lock the keys in the truck? Nice thing is you cannot lock the truck , if FOB if it is still inside...this can be a good thing or bad ...depends..
Push button starting...”luv-it...”..so easy...and opening the doors ..just touch the handle..(2019 TRD)

Nice thing ..hand cranking to start your engine ended..then key starting kinda made it easier..today the push buttons...tomorrow?
    Aloha
