Technicaly you did not do anything "wrong". But the way I see it you did something morally unethical.

Toyota put those rules in place to protect the current SE FJ owners should they need a new wheel in the future.

When I got mine Toyota must have had an overstock and figured they did not need that many. They did not require a VIN. They did the same with the black version of this wheel. Some got out into the general Toyota population and now a few Tacoma and 4Runner owners are rocking them.

On the other hand, playing a bit of Devil's advocate here...

Does Toyota put a limit on how many replacement rims you can buy??? Who's to say that anyone who wheels alot in their FJ might want a 2nd or 3rd set of rims???

I would HIGHLY doubt that, or the fact that Toyota somehow keeps a record of how many replacement rims you have purchased.

And if he asked the owner, where's the harm?

    hey guys
Aside from looking super cool, how do these wheels perform off roading? I love these but i am afraid it might not have any off road gains

    Update:

One of the dealerships near me mentioned that they could get some in from the US. 10-14 days shipping time, at a cost of $283 each, and a no return policy.

Now I'm not going to pay almost $300 a piece for rims, when other people have gotten them for as low as $121 each. Even with the Canadian mark up, I won't go over $180 for them. I'm going to go in tomorrow and see what I can work out with them.

Same with a dealer I talked to in Newmarket. When I find a set I am just shipping them to the border and driving down to get them. Bring them across myself. Will probably be ordering the tires from Tirerack too.

Bump, anybody ordered these lately? I'm going to contact local dealers this week and try to get some.

If anyone has had success lately, especially in Southern California, please PM me details.

Still require a Vin last I heard.

The tough part.. Your dealer will think he can order them, then a few days later Toyota blocks the order and he calls you back and tells you the bad news.

Don't get your hopes up. Good luck though.

Pretty Sure I can sell you a set. But shipping is what kills the price. It's about $900 shipping and everything.
